You may not huve thought of It
good people but those merchants who
have been putting on big sales and
heralding news of the name through
out the county have been doing some
of the kind of Chlckafcha advertising
that counts to beat the curs.
During the past montb thousands of
circulars advertising Chit kanhs Kales
have been sown broadcast over the
county and the daily and weekly news
papers have also carried the same
news to the people. Severil merchants
liave sent out from 5000 to 20000 cir-
culars concerning tbelr Bales.
What Is the effect of such advertis-

HONOR WHERE HONOR IS DUE.
Oklahoma has fittingly rendered
ttntutt' uhpra hlinnr It 1m. In lha !
election of Thomas P Gore of Law-
ton to the senate of the United States
fays the Aidmoreiie.
Oklahoma has reason to he proud
of the men whom she selected as her
first representatives as a sovereign
state of the Union to lis greatest leg-
islative body. They have borne them-
selves with honor and have shown
"sans pui-r Bans reproche.' To the
name of Senator Gore not a breath
of suspicion of scandal has attached
itself. And weighing this record In
the light of the revelations on the
past few years and the odium that
has attached itself to this body as a
whole who can say that it is not re-
markable! .
When the announcement of Senator
Gore's election to the senate was is-
np'd to the world then1 were those
ho imagined thf.t the people of Okla-
homa were hard to put to it for rep-
r "semaiives n thai they had sent a
in-ill wiihotil sk;hl U lite capital a: J
they doubilcss expected that tiny!
would see in ihe senate chamber fro.n
1 ly to day a man utterly unable to
take his own part and that of his state'
its it should be taken. .Many people
fo expressed themselves. We sre fa-
miliar with the history of their dis-
appointment. They found instead that
this blind senator was a man of bril-
liant intellect profound erudition and
an orator of the first rank. Senator
Gore bas endeared hlniseli to the
hearts of the citizens whom he has
so faithfully represented. He has kept
his promises and he was re-elected
without one single dissenting Demo-
cratic vote.
Those states that can point with
pride to the record of their senators
are rare and Oklahoma is fortunate
in that she may be numbered among
them.
