THE JURY SYSTEM AS IT IS
AT PRESENT ADMINISTERED IS LITTLE MORE THAN A RELIC OF
A SEMI BAR BARIC AGE.
The juror is treated little better than a criminal. lie is locked
up it night and is given little more pay than a day laborer. He is
compelled to listen to the fcrangle of lawyers. I HOPE THAT
TILE TIME WELL COME WHEN THE JIJROIt WILL
BE TREATED LIKE A OEXTLEMAN AND WHEN HE
WILL RECEIVE THE PAY OE A BUSINESS MAN.

It ha been said that prohibitory laws are the most certain incen-
tives of perjury known. Both witnesses and jurors arc parleying
with conscience and their attitudes spring from objection to the
law. I do not mean to say that some of them may be unwise. T
don't mean to say that sometimes the people may be made good
by statutes or ordinances. Bat 1 do wish to say that when a city
passes an ordinance it is the duty of its residents to uphold it.

Salvation.
Salvation Is Inner character not
outer surrounding. The only salva-
tion worth considering is salvation
from sin not salvation from a place
of suffering. The suffering is only be-
cause first aln la. 'Take the sin away
and the suffering ceases. We need a
deeper richer fuller and more spirit-
ual conception of what salvation really
Is. But is there any bop that sin
Will ever cease? None whatever In
the nature of sin. It does not exhfl'.it
Itself. 80 long as men will love sin
sin will continue. Rev. L. M. Clarks.

The members of the Baptist church
at Bartlesvllle I. T. at a recent busi-
ness meellnR passed a series of reso-

a beverage put up in bottles and sold
freely In Indian Territory. "Mist"
they claim is an intoxicating beverage
and therefore Jia sale is a violation
of the decision of the Apr 'llate court

One of the proprietors of a

asked why he did ubt use
Flectric lights instead of a

His reply was that the Kicc

could not depend ou it. He
had to offer some excuse for
