rado & Gulf It. is understood will be
built between Oklahoma City and

fields of New Mexico. Between Okla
homa City and Kingfl.-her the road will

Actual work on the construction of
the Clinton & Oklahoma Western Rail-
rocd. promoted by Co'.. G. G. Godman
of Fort Smtih Ark. began the first
of last week at Clinton toward But-
ler thirty miles to the westward. Con-
tracts for the grading were let to
Frank Adams Stanley Brown and
Frank Y'oung. All the money for the
right of way and the bonuses donated
by Clinton and Butler . have been
raised. The purpose Is to build west-
ward from Butler Into the Texas Pan-
handle. Another Texas Panhandle road that
Is attracting interest in Oklahoma Is
the Enid Ochiltree & Western char-
tered to build fror Enid In Northern
Oklahoma almost directly west to
Ochiltree and Dalhart Texas much of
the distance being through country
now not touched by railways. It is
expected to start construction work
out of Dalhart on April 1 according
to A. C Wiest Jr. general manager
and vice president. At Enid the road
will connect with several Frisco and
Rock Island lines.

Secretary Cassldy of the school land
commission announced yesterday that
the department Is ready to notify
lessees of the appraised value of the
land and of the lessees' Improvements
Said notices will be mailed Immedi-
ately. The Fireman's pension bill was
signed yesterday by Governor Haskell.
With him were J. Bart Foster of
Chandler secretary of the State Fire-
men's Association George B. Gelder
of Stillwater editor of the Fireman's
Journal; W. C. Gruber. chief of the
Guthrie department and Ham P. Bee
of Guthrie. All of these men have
taken a prominent part In the passage

today and will begin active work at
