"In this day of strife and unrest
we realize the iinportSTce of the ac
tual and vigorous enforcement of
every law of the state. Impressed
with the perilous situation that may
follow- Che active efforts of the law-
less element of our population which
always takes advantage of disturbed
conditions we desire to make our
position perfectly clear to the people
of the state. We represent neither
capital nor labor no faction or party
to any controversy; we represent
only the law as enacted by tho sov-
ereign people of Oklahoma. We feel
and bolleve that no peace officer
sworn to uphold the law and wear-
ing tho uniform- or badge of author-
ity should join any organization that
would prevent or embarrass him in
the protection of life and property
and of extending to every citizen the
absolute protection of the law.
"Holding these views we pledge
and promise the people of the stale
a faithful execution of their laws
and to this end we promise and
pledge each other the most hurnio-

"We call attention to a fact well
known but often not observed that
unless an officer lias the fullest co-
operation and assistance of the law-
abiding citizens of ihe state his ef-
forts will fall short of his full duty
to the people. We therefore feel
iu tified in inviting and requesting
the sympathetic and thoughtful as-
sistance of all those who love the
law and desire to -gee it really en-
forced And we further believe and
feel that with an active co-operr-tlon
of the officers and the good citizen
ship of the state we will safely pass
through the perilous -times which
now apparently confront us an
that our government will contlnuo try. Strain of military service upon
