Chapman Is a brother of the messenger
who was killed at Mound Valley
Kan. last fall in resisting the efforts
of bandits to rob the train.
On July 31 this gang robbed tho
bank nt Chandler Ok. and escaped
by killing oue man ami wounding
others. In the fight Elmer Lucas.onc
of the gang was shot and captured
nnd is now in jail. The remaining
three are Hill Cook Chcrokco Hill and
Sherman Hailing.

extent that no pollen or very little
was available to Impregnate tho silks
which is uecessary to the formation of
perfect grains ntul full cars. Upon
finding the corn in that condition
Professor Magrudcr of tho Oklahoma
Experiment Station farm proceeded
at onco to secure pollen from other
plants of younger command with the
pollen from It artificially Impregnated
tho silks of the pl.ts where tho pollen
hud been destroyed. If the silks wero
deud he hud tho shuck cut down from
the top two or three inches and tho
pollen dusted on and the shuck folded
back over tho end of tho ear It is not
known whether or not this practice
