Was it worth while the thous-
ands of lives sacrificed and the mil.
lions in treasure poured out at Port
Arthur? And the end is not yet
in sight. Two nations still imbued
with the instincts of savagery fight
like beasts. Differences must be
settled by force rather than by an
appeal to justice. Some centuries

Loud groaning continue to ema
natc from the Enid Eagle because
the senate committee saw fit to do
an act of justice in equalizing the
representation of the two terri
tories in the constitutional conven
tiou. The Eagle thinks that Okla
homa is entitled to even a larger
proportion of the delegates than
was fixed iu the original bill. To
the Eagle Indian Territory seems
to be a vague and shadow ing sort
to ''terra incognito" sparsely set-
tled And with few claims for jus-
lice cr anything else at the hands
of congress. This is a survival of
the old sentiment among Oklaho-
ma republicans before they were
compelled perforce to accept the
single statehood idea. Most of the
Oklahoma republican journals hare
shown some capacity to learn bet-
ter but the Eagle's troubled spirit
cannot rest. K nightmare ev-
