MANUDM LINE RUNMNO.
It Rons Four Miles Au Hoar and
the Track Is Very
Wobbly.
'When will the railroads ever
begin to mn on time once more?''
It question often asked but eel
dotn answered. To the credit of
the Book Iflaod be it said it is do
ing everything in Us power to
straighten tbiogs out and has la-
bored unceasingly ever sinci the
flood to get the numerous trunk
lines and branches of its enormous
system into working order again.
Bat It's slow work. Itbound to
be especially ou the Mauguio
branob where between Audatko
aoi Mountain View six bridgea
and 32 miles of track were washed
out. Every man the Rock Island
could muster to its service has been
at work on that loe ever since the
flood.
An tngineer on the Mangain
branch who nn a train oui since
the lies has been repaired inform-
ed to Express reporter that the
line w&s in worse shape than be
had ever seen it betore. "We
have to run jast about four milfe
an hour'' said the engircer "and
then the track is exceedingly ol
bly and uncertain. The high wa-
ter along the right of wav between
Anadtrko and Mountain View soft
e&ed everything and the cmbauk-
ment no matter bow much work
baa been pnt in on it is in great
danger of rqaaehing and giving
war. The bridges are in fairly
good shape but of conrsa they are
only temporary etructurea at best
and mast be replaced with per-
manent iron bridges as soon as
practicable. While I don't like
tbe idea of running over tbe line
In its present slate I guess I'll
have to or lose my job." And tuch
is tbe condition of the Maogum
line.

farniture store last Saturday night
but the second was quite as good
as tbe first and there are no
apologies coming. The program
Saturday night was as follows:
