tie alder roen will a;t wisely an they no doubt will and
for the welfare of the city.
ft appear that there is a straight conflict of in-
tmH bet we n the kotk Island and the new railroad
the Oklahoma Central. The former claims that it
'i'l ke greatly damaged if the latter i granted a
franchise through Railroad ktreet and the Oklahoma
Central promoter claim that the building of their
road into Chkkaha is dependent upon getting this
franchise
Chi.ka.ha oweymuch to the Rock Island. It is
no exaggeration U say that fully one-half of our
people directly or indirectly are dependent upon the
fttipjrt derived from the Kw.k Island. Certainly
Chkkahbahas no desire to do anything that will be
detrimental to the interests of this company.
On the other hand Chickasha has much to expect
from the new road and must give all tne encourage-
ment potable to the promoter ot it.
Amidst these confiding interests the aldermen
will weigh the matter with the greatest deliberation
mindful of the tremendous responsibility rc-iting up-
on them and looking to the ultimate welfare of the
city. It k a critical hour in the history of the city
demanding the exercise ot the highest wisdom upon
the part of those in whose hands the welfare of
Chickasha rests.

At Electric Light Plant Lil Night. Ciy
in Drkne.
The electric storm last night play-
ed havoc at the electric light plant
Both of the generators were burn-
ed out and the citv was left in
darkness.
Mr. Ross stated that he expected
to have the smaller generator re
paired for tonight and could have
the commercial' lights going but
was not sure that he would have
sufficient power for the residence
lights. He asks people to be pa.
tient till the necessary repairs
wh!ch have been ordered arrive
and are installed. This will Uke
