Although the formal opening of the
new McFarlund hotel will not take
place for several days llie house was
opened to guests this morning. The
delay is due to the failure of several
articles of furniture to arrive. The
managers announced today however
that the formal opening would be ob-
served as noon as possible. Several
city resident who have engaged per-
manent apartments at the hotel occu-
pied their rooms last night
j The new hotel has seventy-five
rooms eac h being well ventillated by
means of large double windows. Thir-
ty seven of the rooms have private
i baths with hot and cold water. A pri-
vate exchange connecting all rooms
w ith local and long distance phono ser
vice has been installed Klevator ser-
vice to all floors the first elevator to
be used in a hotel in Chickasha has
been installed. The house is equipped
wiMi the Richmond vacuum cleaning
system.
The dining room with its highly pol-
ished hardwood floors has a seating
capacity of sixty. The walls and wood-
work are finished in white.
The kitchen Is modern and sanitary.
The writing room is well lighteu
with ceiling lights with individual
lights over each of the six desks.
Tho lobby has an inside opening to
the hotel barber shop.
Over 2-10 Incandescent lights were
used to light the hotel. All wiring Is
in conduits aiid is absolutely fireproof.

Tho furniture in each room is mahog-

Mrs. Z. L. McFarland will be super-
visor of the guest rooms and dining
room. Frank Fdwards an expeiiene- j
ed chef will be hero for the opening
of the hotel. The C. H. S. will have
the distinction of belnp; trie first to
hold a social function in the new hotel
when on Tuesday evening the annual
Junior-Senior reception will take
place. This reception was scheduled
for tomorrow evening but upon re-
cutest of the hotel management was
postponed.
The hotel barber shop opened today
under the management of W. J. Mcin-
tosh and S. B. Shull. The new barber
shop !s up-to-date In every detail. The
east wall of tho shop has a plate mir-
ror extending up nine feet the stands
and thesis are of white marble and
mahogany combination. There are
four chairs and t;; men will be used
besides the managers. A shine chair
Is run in connection with the shop and
the best of service is promised. The
shop has an entrance to the hotel lob-
by as well as a street entrance. Mc-
intosh and Shall have been In the bar-
ber business here for several years
and as in the past will conduct a strict-
ly unipu shop.

ed The young men of Oklahoma will
do their "bit." Many have answered
their country's call enlisting in the
Oklahoma National Guard the I'nitetl
Slates army and navy and marine
corps. The first regiment of infantry
is still short 377 men. Three good
cornet players are needed at once- to
complete the first regimental band
Five men are needed in the medical
deps rttneut and one hundred and sity-
nine men for the infantry. To the

but have hesitated tills appeal is ad-

We all love Oklahoma we are
proud of our place in the sisterhood of
tiic state of Dixie Land. We have led

way to-patriotism and to preparation

Oklahoma to the commercial bodies
of the sttUe. to the civic and patriotic
societies jf Oklahoma let me urge
upon you to assist us in filling up the
first regiment to the required strength.
Start a campaign at once for recruits.
I'rge tho young men of your cities tun)
towns to enlist. Form them into
groups-wire me at my expense the
number who wish to go; I will furnish
transportation from their homes to Ft
Sill Okla. where they will be enlisted
in the ranks of the first regiment.
Where ten or more men are desirous
of enlisting. I will send a medical offi-
cer of the medical corps to conduct the
physical examinations at their homes
thereby reducing the time and expense
both to the applicants and the state
of Oklahoma. No man will have to
beni a cent of expense; he is furnish-
ed with transportation after enlist-
ment uniforms equipment and com-
fortable quarters ami companionable!

the period of the war. Why hesitate?
Why wait for the conscription? Come
now and join your friends and fellows
from Oklahoma. Vou will retain your
identity. For some time you will be
