Note of Optimism
A year ago there was need for caution that fact ivus repeatedly
jiniuted out in the Magazine of "Wall Street.
But today the effect of caution has largely heen realized the
same journal notes. Whereas the dollar of yesterday was worth
less than 50 cents it is approaching its full value.
Now is the time to build firmly and substantially.-' Practical
judgment based on common sense high ideals and faith unimpaired
by fear will carry the business man of today ahead farther than
ever before.
i We are reaching the turning point. It is well known that the
security market forecasts business conditions three to six months
in advance. Large investors are buying bonds which means that
the big corporations will have money to spend for material sup-
plies wages money which will gradually percolate through all
the clihrjK'ls of enterprise. The money situation will show decided
improvement by December; the security markets are already dis-
counting a'.id looking forward to the better conditions which Avill
come in 1921 and business men should now lay fdieir plans for In
creased activity and more aggressive policies next year. San Her

The Ped Cross did not sign an armistice with its enemy dis-1
ease and misfortune nor did its efforts cease when the great war
was won. Thousands and thousands of boys were 'n the care of the '

The Progressive Farmer laments the outbreaks of lawlessness
that have resulted in burning cotton gins and compresses in some
parts of the south. We must have no lawlessness. "We have a
righteous and dignified cause and we must fight a clean battle.
The ginners and compress men are not to blame for low prices.
"Wherever some fool disgraces our cause by lawlessness we must
purge our record by helping bring the guilty person to justice. There
js no other course worthy of the honorable record and clean repu-
tation which generations of sturdy and honest Southern farmers
have handed down to us of today.

Sovietism's Blackest Crime
A correspondent of the London Daily Telegraph who is with
Oeriernl Wrangle's forces quotes an officer who escaped from
Odessa with his young wife and sister-in-law as saying that several
personal friends of the two women were seized nationalized and sent
t the Chinese lines for the amusement of the soldiers. Accord-
ing to this officer nationalization of women is conducted systemati-
cally by the bolslievisfs. Each month certain weeks are fixed and
officially proclaimed "free love" weeks.' Bolshevism must answer
for some devilish crimes but the debauchery of womanhood is the
blackest mark against it. When the day of reckoning comes and
the civilized nations balance accounts with sovietism the
women who are sent to the Chinese lines and the victims of "free
love" weeks must not be forgotten. Toledo libido.
