KILGORE FOR
TREASURER
Wonderful Surgical Feat.
Wonderful things are accomplished
in the surgical world these days. Six-year-old
Arthur Shibley was shot b.v a
maniac in New York recently and w.i
likely to die through loss of blood.
The doctors suggested transfusion of
blood from a strong and healthy per-
son's body into that of the dying boi
The lad's foster mother gladly ohered
herself for the strange sacrifice.
Mrs. Shibley scorning anaesthetics
bore the pain without flinching as the
surgeons ppeml a vein in ber arm. In
a moment the blood from her healthy
j system was flowing into the enfeebled
body of her adopted son. The change
in 'the boy's appearance during the
20 minutes the Transfusion contin-
ued was wonderful. A healthy glow
came to his skin and his pale lips be-
came ruddy. When the tube was re
moved the surgeons announced that
the operation had been a success.
Mrs. Biiiblcy was so weak from the
loss of blood that she could scarcely
speak but she smiled cheerfully as
she was told the boy was much bene-j
II ted by her sacrifice.
