Presidential Race
Growing List of I'ninstructed Dele-
i gatc-i Standing of the
! t Candidates.
' j Chicago May ji. The dcmo-
cratic fight for delegates to the na-
t ' tional con vent ion is increasing in
i interest as the time for the nomi-
nation of an opponent for President
Roosevelt approaches. K. C- Wall
;; defeated the Hearst plans this
week when he captured an in-
; strutted delegation in Wisconsin.
In Indiana Tom Taggart added
what he declared a finishing touch
to '.fie Hearst loom but while
Taggart was doing his l-st'to put
j the New York congressman out of
the race Mr. Ilea'st was gathering
in the Iowa and California dele-
gations which mote than balanced
the loss iii Indiana.
However the utimler of niiin-
slructcd delegates to the national
convention gradually is increasing
and there are jxilitical prophets
I here who say tha: in the event of
I'atker failing to secure enough
votes to nominate Olney Wall and
the tininstruiled delegates will
turn to ex-President (inner Cleve-
land and make him the nominee.
Favorite sons arc Wing used
against Mr. Hearst in stale where
lie has made the fight and this has
told against him.
Delegates hav e liecn ehttcd in
twenty-four states although all
are not yet complete.

Cleveland Ohio May 21. The
twenty first district Democratic
convention today nominated Fd-
mund C. Vail for Congress.
Mayor Tom L. Johnson and John
H. Clarke were selected as dele-
gates to the National convention.
They were not instructed.
Recently the anti-Johnson Demo-
crats held an independent conven-
tion and nominated August Zeh-
ritig for Congress and elected dele-
gates to St. Imis.
Mayor Johnson in the course of
a speech at a convention said:
"A few years ago an unknowns shops.
young man way out in Missour
commenced to talk about honestly
in public life. He was elected
Circuit Attorney. From that
multimillionaires as well the chea-K-st
political grafter learned that
Joseph W. Folk Ik lieved what he
said. Mr. Folk pursued the crook-
ed millionaires as well as the cheap
grafters and landed thent in the
penitentiary . The end is not yet
in the chase for criminal in Mis-
souri and today this " fearless
young Democrat is as good' as
nominated as candidate for Gover-
nor. "There are political grafters in
Washington. We know that to
our sorrow. Perhaps Mr. l'olk
could find labor for his talents as
the President of the United Stales
aiming giant blows at official rot-
tenness ia Washington. I am not
attempting to lorecast the action
of the coming National convention
but fearless men like Folk should
!e kepi in mind."
Union Center Celebration
The ople at I'nion Center ate

matter very earnestly and it may
c confidently predicted that the
eagle w ill scream louder at Union
Center on the nation's birthday
than at any other place in the
man! country. There will 1 all the
paid j features necess.tr y to make a cele
bration a howling success keep
your eyes on Union Center for the

Elks Vs Fats
The Sock Island ISall
Thursday Afternoon.
Park
It's to be Thursday afternoon
the big game lietween the Flks
and the Fats.
Tha game will be for the Ijene-
fit of the public library.
The Flks are organizing their
team and they will have some of
the lx?st baseball material in the
city in it. They are already
making their Ixiasts how thy
going to make the fat fry out of
the big fellows. The latter are
very much iertur!cd however.
Confidence derived from a series
of past s-ticeess has made them ea-
ger to "leard the lion in his den"
and theyexiiect to drive the lilks
to the woods in a jiffy. Il will be
a great game.

Planned
The excitement of the World's
Fair stockmen's convention City
election and all lesser attractions
will be completely eclipsed by a
baseball game which will probably
1 pulled off in Chickasha soon.
The irrepressible "Fats" having
devoiued numerous victims are
thirsting for fie.h gore. This
time they want to play the Elks
and a game will probably be ar
ranged. The Elks have never
put a team into the field but there
are players among thetn tha. would
put Casey Comiskey and the other
old-time favorites to shame. The
Elks can be depended upon to be
there with the goods it they
enter the baseball lists.

I awton vs Chickasha League
4 to o in favor of the Locals.
The game between Lawton pick
team and the Chickasha Leaguers
at the Rock Island ball park yester
day w as an interesting one and play-
ed well by both clubs. The visitors
were framed up in good stile and
were expecting more than they got
but they surely didn't know what
they were up against when they
crossed bats with Ha.lctt's Indian
To makes ihe story short they
were simply out classed and it was
impossible for tham to score off of
such fast company. Sigmau the
visitors' pitcher was judged by the
fans as ' A-I" twirler and it seems
that he was something new as the
locals failed to land on him for
their usual 2 and 3 base hits Their
infield and outfield work was on
1 he average. Andrews pitched
the game for the locals and his
work in the box was excellent.
The visitors could only bat him for
2 safe hits. The infield and out-
field were played iu the usual old
professional style. Tarr was
ntghiy praised for his fast work on
short stop. Score; Chickasha 4
