A GREAT PROPOSITION AND A SPLENDID
CHICKASHA IND TER. JANUARY 29 1506
KEEP THE PACE
The citizens of Chickasha set a pace in raising a
railroad subscription Friday that will hold the record
for some time to come.
They surprised themselves they surprised every j
!ody. It was abundantly demonstrated that our peo "
pie are not lacking in enterprise and public spirit
when a great occasion that demands the excercise of.
the-ie qi'r.li'.ies is presented. Tne Interur-
ban proposition is one that bears on its face
the highest merit and the people of Chickasha know
a gcod thing when they see it. That's the explanation
of the rousing meeting and the splendid results
The pace was set. Will we keep it?
Approximately one half of the required subscrip-
tion was raised at the meeting Friday. Good progress
has been made since that time and little opposition
has been encountered Numbers who could not at-
tend the meeting giye a hearty response to the propo-
as soon as it is presented to them and among these are
some of our most liberal spirits. The work must be
completed at once. Let it be reported by tomorrow
night that every dollar of the subscription has been
raised. Strike while the iron is hot let the committee
lose no time
Brighter prospects never faced any city large op-
portunities never confron'ed any people than are be-
fore the people of Chickasha at the present time. Let
us rise splendidly to the magnitude of the occa-
sion. There is not a man who owns property in Chick-
asha who cannot afford to sucsbribe at least five per-
cent of the valuation of his realty for the Interurban
and he will make money by so doing. .A five percent
subscription: fifty percent added fo the value of his
property; Looks like a business proposition doesn't
it? Wise business men would jump at such a bar
Get busy committee complete the $50000 sub
scriptton at once keep the pace.
It looks more like statehood.
At a mass meeting of citizens Friday. The prop
option of the Interurban Electric Railway was con-
sidered. The proposition was so fair and fr're from
selfishness that our wideawake citizens accepted by a
response that is in line with the spirit of enterprise
that has characterised Chicka:ha in all her forward
This proposition insures both the present and the
fature of our splendid city. It would not only im
press over people with the possibilities of material
good that will come to us if this enterprise is secured
but would tress also the fact that in an important
sense otir system of education and our churches will
be graciously affected by a movement that brings to
our midst men andjfamilies who stand fer the best
things in the material intellectual and spiritual
Back ot the material is the intellectual: above the
intellectual is the spiritual. These revo've a wheel
within; awheel working out the destiny of ciliesaud
nations. Now is the time tor every citizen to do his
duty. We must live love and labor for the futue. No
l;fe is long enough to realize its fullet measure of in-
fluence. If we are faithful to the trust committed to
us we shall advance. If we enter the open door of this
opportunity we shall pass into the infinite possibilities
of a grtat harvest of good. Be wise. Act promptly
and secure the best thinds for the beat location in the
Indian Territory. A Citizen.
