DRESS UP THE TOWN
The farmers are coming
Visitors from all carts of Gra-
dy and adjoining counties will
- throng the city for three days
Chickasha should take note of
the presence of so many guests
and should do honor to them by
attiring herself in her holiday
garments.
Dress up the town for the oc-
casion.. Let Rags float and let
the merchants decorate the
fronts of their stores.
We want to show the town at
her best; we want to show our
appreciation of our guests.
Wherefore let us put on our
glad rags and present the fair
Queen of the Washita in her
most gorgeous robes.
Dress up the town it wi;!
make a good impression upcn
the visitors.

the paramount issue is simply Bryan
vs. Taft; whether the people will
choose a man to carry out tho react-
ionary policies of the Chicago plat-
form or a man lvho 3tand upon a
platform that decbreH pouarely for the
policies thai Roosevelt has .advocated
and whose character in a guarantee
that they will lie enforced is far us
lies within the power of the executive
arm of the government.
Individual capitalists usually get
poRsession of the suburban additions
through which street car lines are
run and nwke fortunes out of them
but in Chiekattha me people will have
a chance to make money out of the
addition which it is proposed to sell.
The lots'are to be sold at a moderate j
price within the reach of the man of
small merits. Only a small cash pay-
ment will be required enabling every-
one to take advantage of this splen-
did opportunity to buy property for
investment or for a home.
o
Great secrecy is being maintained
by the notification committee of both
parties in order tbhat. they may snr'ng
a surprise on Mr. Bryan and Mr. Taft
when they break the news of the nom-
ination. While both of the gentlemen
.ire expected to experience somewhat
of a shock when the secret is ftnaly
imparted to them they will doubtless
be able to stammer out a few broken
woids of gratification.

WOMAN'S RIGH'I -
A right to tread so softly
Beside the couch of pain
To smooth with gentle lingers
The tangled locks again;
To watch beside the dying
In wee small hours of night
And breath a consecrating prayer
When the spirit-takes its flight.
A right to cheer the the weary
On the battlefields of life
To give the word of sympathy
Amid the told and strife;
To lift the burdens gently
From sore and tired hearts
And never weary of the task
Till gloomy care departs.
A right to be a woman
Tn truest wotftan's work;
If life should lie a hard one
No duties ever shirk.
A right to show to others
How strong a woman grows
When skies ate dark and lowering
And life bears not a rose.
A right to love one truly
And he love back again;
A right to share his fortune
Through sunlight and rain;
A right to be protected
From life'3 most cruel blights
By manly love and courage
Sure these are woman's rights.
Amid the toil and strife;

GUFFY IS IN LINE

Defeated Faction in Pennsylvania Will
Support Bryan at the Polls
Philadelphia July 22. At a meeting
tonight of the democratic city commit-
tee of Philadelphia which is controlled
by the Guffey faction of the party a
resolution which while indorsing Wil-
liam J. Bryan for president and John
W. Kern for vice president denounced
the action of the democratic national
convention at Denver for unseating
eight delegates from Pennsylvania in
favor of delegates opposed to the or-
ganization. The resolution was pre-
sented by County Commissioner
Charles P. Donnelly one of the city
leaders who led the fight before the
credentials committee at Denver in
behalf of the eight delegates who were
unseated and the resolution adopt
ed unanimously.
Mr. Donnelly in offering thq resolu
tion made a speech in which he de-
clared that the action of the Denver
convention in unseating the eight
Philadelphia organization delegates
was a "high-liarded outrage and an
act of political larceny."
The resolution urges the democratic
workers to secure a larger vote in
Philadelphia for William J. Bryan than
he received in either of the previous
campaigns for president.

Will Return Money lo
the State Treasury
Guthrie Okla. July 22. The board
of agriculture has decided to return to
the state treasury the $10000 appro-
priated by the legislature for cyclone
sufferers in six certain counties of
the state. In explanation of this ac-
tion President Connors of the board
said:
"After a thorough investigation the
board is convinced that no such dis-
tress exists in the naid counties as
the legislature intended to relieve.
Crop condUiona are better in five of
these counties than in any portion of
tho state embracing the Choctaw
y. .ekasaw and Creek nations.
"Half of the counties in our state
have suffered irreparable damage
from floods wind and hail since this
appropriation was made by the legis-
lature and it would be gross injus-
tice to the citizens of those stricken
counties to compel tiiem to reimburse
the state treasury for this appropria-
tion." Mexicans Aroused
(Continued from first Page.)
repeat our attitude towards foreigners
We are not boxers but: patriots and
when we take a given decision we
tike it not against foreigners but or
the benefit of Mexico."
The paper summarizes the anti-foreign
sentiment as follows and cham-
pions all but. railways measures: "The
minister of public works has submitt-
eed to the executive of the union the
draft of a new mining law which In-
capacitates foreigners from acquiring
mineg in the frontier states and for-
eign companies from acquiring mines
in any part of the republic."

POLITICS IS WARMING UP ONE
WANDERER RETURNS TO GOD'S
COUNTRY
Laverty Okla. July 22 1908.
Politics .and the weather have be-
gun to warm up a little. Old man T.
.M. Kelly will hold down a dry goods
box and talk democracy and iiryan
until the nails in the box reach a
white heat. While T. C. Welch with
all the eloquence that his massive bulk
can stand up under preaches Social-
ism and Mr. Jones sings prosperity
by note for the republicans. We have
had Dr. Kiddle and Win Strcy here
to talk to us as candidates for the
legislature and they convinced us all
that they were both radically wrong
in abusing each other as both are
democrats and should wait with pa-
tience for the republicans to do the
abusing act.
Clay Hta-lan and family arrived
from New Mexico Sunday morning.
He went out there last March and lo-
cated a claim but as there had been
no rain in that country since the
first of April he dried out and turned
himself again to the country that
flows with milk and honey and water
melons. We welcome him back as
Clay is a bully good fellow and a Ken-
tucky democrat.
We are still on the map though
about one half of our townsite is ad-
vertised to be sold for delinquent
taxes July 30.
There has been but one death In
this section so far this year. No mar-
riages and two separations and we
still prosper.
Our prospects for a good crop of
corn aro flattering; the cotton is lata
