It is marvel that it has not long

even so with productiohs other
than Stetson's but the public has
grown to know that Stetson's is
always reliable that it alone has
lifted 'Tncle Tom's Cabin" from
mediocrity to the macry. In
short it is the only company pre-

villi capital enough to provide
sufficient scenery jfople and rail-
road epiipments to place it among
theirs! tntertaiiinients tforc the
public. Stetson is the only one
presenting the drama as a first-

entertainment will be seen in the
local house than this. Over fifty

MILLION AIRE'S
P O 0 R
STOMACH.
The worn out stomach of the over
fed ntiliionatc is often paraded in
the public prints as a horrible ex-
ample of the evil attendant on the
possession of great wealth lint
millionaires are not the only ones
who are afflicted with bad stomachs.
The portion is far greater among
the tailors. Dysjvpsin and indiges-
tion are rampant among these peo-
ple and they suffer far worse tor-
tures than the millionaire unless
they avail themselves of a standard
medicine like Green's August
'lower which has Ken a favorite
household remedy for all stomach
(roubles for over thirty years. Au
gust Flower rouses the torpid liver
thus creating appetite and insuring
jvl fed digestion. It tones and vit-
alizes the entire system and makes
life worth living no matter what

Premier! tnd Their Clothes.
Th late Lord Salisbury sliared
with Mr. Gladstone a disregard for
clothes and several times his at-
tire was referred to with regret by
arterial writers. So long as hts
coat hung fairly well from tlie
shoulders the deceased premier
eared little but he never went the
length of Mr. Gladstone whose
clothes were often so shabby that
only an eminent person would wear
them. Lord Salisbury's hats were
enormous affairs quit equaling
Mr. Gladstone's in size and much
more respectable; indeed Mr. Glad-
stone's hedgear was generally in
tfie shocking bad hat catagory.
While in attendance in the cotn-
mons Mr. Gladstone dressed fairly
well but outside the house he paid
little attention to his garments lne

To Float Corks Vertioally.
Everybody knows that an ordi-
nary cork lieing considerably long-
er than it is broad is forced to float
when put in water upon its long
side. How can we make it float
upon its head?
I 'lace one of seven corks on end
on the table; surround it with the
other six all upon end; take the
seven corks compactly in one hand
and plunge them under water so
as to moisten them completely.
Remove your hand and let rhein
take their position in the frater.
Tlie water that has penetrated the
corks will cause them to cling to-
gether because their united width
is greater than their length.
This effect of capifialry cohesion
amusingly demonstrates that
union there is strength."

Tho Origin of "Madame."
Thr. secret is out. The public
has 1-een told how it is that th
woman who begins business as a
dressmaker as "Mis" or "Mr." ul-
timately biossctms forth as "ma-
damo." At the convention of the Nation-
al Dressmakers' Association in
Chicago on Wednesday "Mme."
Raker of that city gave in an ad-
aVcss this brief explanation :
"A dressmaker auains die rank
of 'madame' Ix-eause slie wants to
and because it gives to her friends
a convenient word with which to
address her. That's the w-hole
story."
It is done very much as a Ken-
tucky gentleman attains the rank
of "colonel" or as every fifth man
one met for a few years after the
civil war ended answered to the
title of "captain."
A Maiden's Troubles.
Helen Gertrude lay awake al-
most the whole night last nigiit
worrving.
Clifford What was she worry-
ing about ? .
"Oh. she's cfraid the man r-lic is
going1 to marry may love her more
for her money than for herself."
"Whv Gertrude hasn't any mon-
ey to speak of."
"I know but she has a rich rela-
tive somewhere in the old country
and she thinks he may "leave her
something."
"But does her fiance know of this
rich relative?"
"Oh she hasn't any fiance yet ;
she's thinking of the time when she
will have one."

THE
ADVANTAGES OF
ELECTRIC LIGHTS
are so apparent that we are almost
ashamed to talk a'nit them They
stick right out like the nose of your
face but as Marcus Aurelius
might have said if he 'ad thought
of it "If a man blow not his own
horn the same it shall not lx"
blovved." And our office Loy says
he'll be Mowed if he can see why
we should hide our light under a
half bushel.
Ro to save argument w e arc will-
ing to admit that there is no light
that even approaches the electric
light in quantity of light radiated
all around the room.
The quality of the light you can
see for yourself. Electric lights
give a strong clear vivid white
light. Tlwt is what is demanded
today pure while light and plenty
of it.
If our points are not clear to you
it is undoubtedly due to the fact
that your light is poor. If you
will put in a full equipment of elec-
tric lighcs the whole r.ubject w ill be
made lieautifully luminous and we
will have.iK-ace in the family.
