A Wonderful Cave.
Denver Colo. Dec. 9 A spec-
ial to the News from Butte. Mout.
says:
A new and wonderful cave and
believed to be one of the largest
known uas just been discovered
In the (any on of the Jefferson on
the line of the Northern Pacific
railway abont fifty miles west of
Bntte. An exploration parly
from Butle spent several days in
the cave going over an area of ten
miles and a depth of nearly one
thousand feet. A large river
with a cataract of abont 100 feet
was explered for a distant e of sev-
eral miles without discovering its
source or outlet. A few articles
of stone and copper uienuls nnd
some bones belie v. I to be human
tiones were also found in one
of the large aparrmenfs of the
cave. There w.ie other wbUwa
es that at some lime ia a prehis-
toric period tbi: cive was inhabit
td. It is believed that an earth
quake closed the entrance to the
cavean4 killed its iuhabitauta.
The formation of sUlactite and
other decorations throughout the
cave are most beautiful.
