Mis M. C. Uowden formerly of Eile
but now of tho Snc and ''ox agency I.
T.. states that In addition to her son
Henry who committed suicide last
June by taking poison her adopted
son Frank committed suicide August
21th by shooting himself. 1'oor health
caused Henry to take his own life but
Mrs. llowdeu has no idea what caused
Frank to hill himself. Mrs. Howden
is a very old woman and bhe can
hardly bear up under her grief.
Henry and Frank Kowdtm were both
well known in this locality und were
excellent young men.

Louis Republic's Washington bureau
correspondence:
A prominent visitor at tho capital
yesterday was Governor Kcnfrow of
Oklahoma. Ho spent tho morning at
the interior department in consulta-
tion with Secretary Smith over tho
management of the affairs of the terri-
tory. In fact the visit hero was at
tho suggestion of Mr. Smith who do-
sired to come in touch with the terri-
torial business in question. Governor
Henfrow is a tall und typical western
man. He is ono of the old boomers
and lias an abiding faitli in his chosen
country. Ho speaks of it only to
praise it and to urge his hearers to
come within its borders. He says the
Democrats of the territory are very
much pleased to note tho decided
Democracy of the new inhabitants of
the territory.
The selection of a Democratic mayor
in the town of l'erry and the certain
prospect of a like outcome at Enid
both cities of about 10000 Inhabitants
are very pleasing to tho Democrats of
old Oklahoma. In regard to statu-
hood which the territorv 's seeking

resigned his position as resident en-
gineer of the M. 1C. A T. railway to

Cqrsloann Texas Mr. W. U II. Searcy.
Jr. and Miss Alice V Drake were
united in marriage. The wedding was
n quiet affair nnd occurred at the homo
of Miss Theresa Pace a friend of the
bride nnd whom she was at tho time

Mr. Searcy is a brilliant young lawyer

Tho bride comes of one of tho first
families of tho stato of Georgia; her
father lion. G. J. Drake was until re-

Staunton Vn.. whore sho took ti high
stand In nil her classes. When she
camo out of school and made her debut
her beauty wit and vivacity made her
at once a princess in society.
Mr. Searcy Is to bo congratulated
upon winning such a jewel.
Mr. nnd Mrs. Searcy arrived in the
city this morning and were mot nt the
train by Messrs. Haker Corbctt and
Doctors l'inquard and Miller. The
party will take breakfast at thu Koyal
Hotel were an elaborate menu will le
