NEW COATS LIKE CLOUDS
TO HAVE SILVER LININGS
By "MARJORIE" -(Written
(or the United .Press.)
New York (Sept. 8. Every coat
has its Bllver lining uml the few
cants that don't have sliver linings
have so met h In k even 'better a gold
or Ibrooaded lining. Nor Is it only
coats that conceal this Inner 'beauty.
The entire fashion -world- seems
concentrated on the -subject of "beau-
tifully ornate linings and accessor-
ies. Fur and fabric roats especially
revel In linings and trimmings that
represent almost the stun total of
(he garment. Metallic cloths of gold
and silver; silks satins and vel-
vets of luxurious softneHS uml won-
derTul colorings; iberufflud and puff-
ed chiffons and tissues even fluffy
marabous adorn the inner side of
fashion's favorite garments.
While silk patterns uro large and
bright the designs and colors are
eo skillfully convbined that a rare
artistic effect is given: TXull ma-
roons cherry deep ipurples brick
or mahogany and rich emerald
greens are favorite backgrounds.
Designs are largoly conventional and
the flushing rose or modest violet
i't horn to 'blush unseen this year as
lar as designers are concerned.
'ComMnations of golden-brown with
gold are conspicuous 1n both fur and
fu'bric. coats possible because bVown
or cochin Is one of the season's
leading colors. Many expensive
wraps are lined with a gold imetallc
cloth veiled in f l.. chi.-fon or a sil-
ver metallic lining 111 'bo In silver
chiffon corded with coral.
The ibeauty of little trifles Is enir
phaslzed in dresses. In line and ma-
terial the dresses are extremely sim-
ple being cut on the loose and
straight chemise lines and of ordi-
nary materials as serge trlcotine
or gabardine. Hut ono gown may
hold ten or twenty yards of gor-
goously colored wool wound around
in some Intricate pattern. Or literally
quarts or Indian-lined ibeacls may
trickle from it. Perhaps its reason
for a three figured price tag will be
centered ubmit the waist where
gleams a girdle buckled with rsal
Jade or onyx. 'i'tT'Jf
iA new .fad Is the use of about
flve-inch-wlde bandings of various
colored 'braids all Bewn trn-ofae)-
until the effect is that of an Orientally-striped
grosgrain ribbon. These
bandings circumnavigate the .skirts
or finish tho neck and sleeves. Real
ribbons are mora elaiborate than
ever. Ribbon counters resemble an
Arabian Mights 'bazaar. Uuvetyn en
crusted with oil initiated designs
u ribbon Innovation and every con
ceivable combination of fulbric and
color ib used. I liese ribbons are
used for suit and dress vests cami
soles dress bindings bugs and even
Mouses. Batik rfNhons in sufficient
width for the making of a blouse
are offered. Batik blouses iby the
way are as aiopular as In their hey-
day and many new and beautiful de-
signs are Offered. Tills form of Jap-
anese art seems here to stay.
ARREST MOONSHINERS.
Muskogee Thirty moonshiners
and 'bootleggers havei .been rounded
aip here during the last three weeks.
Federal officers contemplate to
conduct numerous raids.
