3 W.G. DULLARD
IN CONTROVERSY
County Attorney In Written State-
ment Says He .Has Positive Evi-
dence That State Man Could
Not Be Found Guilty.
Win. Stacey county sittorney to-
day fmnislied the following written
statement in reply Xj the sthtenwut
of V. O. Uullard. local merchant
I foreman at the convict camp said
the 'p found in Bullard's .tor re-
iiembled one worn by Allen but
would not swear that it was the
same cap. Everidgo l:he steward of
the camp was positive that the cap
was Allen's and was willing to swear
to it. Kverldge is a convict serving
a life sentence for the murder of his
wife. Against this evidence I had
the following: Allen left cam?
about 3 o'clock la Friday afternoon.
The Ohickasha police say that the
burglary was pulled off about 3
o'clock Saturday morning. The sher-
iff of Seminole county who knows
Allen well says that Allen boarded
a train with hini in .Oklahoma City
at e'.evlen o'clock Friday night and
that 'they rode together to Shawnee
! at. which place Allen left the train.
If Allen was in Oklahoma City at
eleven o'clock Friday night of which
tt groVsly inhum.in outrage ; which I
wcuht not countenance and i hope
that when he. returns to Chickasha
he will prosecute Utie parties respon-
sible for it.
"Billiard t-ays he wants the--people
of Grady county to know wjiat
kind of a man they have for county
attorney. That is exactly what I
want the people Ho know but I don't
want any person to lie absut me. I
wan the people to know they have
a county -attorney who will not per-
mit their money tJ be squandered
by sending .the sheriff on fool er-
rands nil over the country jjjercly ti
gratify the whoi cf Uullard or any
ether crank. I want the people to
know that they have a county attor-
ney who will revpect and project the
risrhts of the lowly and unfortunate
and on the other hand will prosecu'c
net and influential cH.'zon when the
evidence will justify it.
"Before clo.sing I wish to call At-
tention to another fact. I'uder the
circumstances of this case H' was
the du'ty of the state officials to have
returned Allen to Chlckasha if he
were guilty of the crime alleged
and they would have done so. fm-
niediately after the alleged burgmry
the warden -of the state penitentia-
ry at McAlesAer made a thorough
investigation of the case and as soon
as he was satisfied that Allen was
innocent directed the sheriff t
Atchison to release bint.
