maternity act was attacked here to-
day before the District of Columbia

Mrs. Harriot A. Frothingham wife
of a Boston attorney filed suit
ccainst the secretary of the treasury
and the board of maternity and in-
fant hygiene created by the act
nsking that the defendants be re-
strained from carrying out provi-
sions of the law. The bill contended
that the act was unconstitutional
and. that the plaintiff was being
"unjustly taxed by the expenditures
under the bill" which would amount
to $1240000 for the. present fiscal
year.
