Mayor Points to

Yesterday - was . "Proclamation
Day" in the mayor's office. Two of
the written instruments were Issued
by the chief executive.
After publicity proclaiming De-
cember 4 to 10 as "Better Healflh
Week" the mayor issued another
proclamation asking the people of
the city to also observe "American
Education Week"December 4 to
10.
In his "American Education Week"
proclamation the mayor says:
"Whereas The National. Educa-
tion association and the American
Legion has joined together to hold
an American Education Week De-
cember 4 to 10 1921 and a special
effort wil be made to interest tho
community state and nation in the
subject pf education and
"Whereas The above named or-
ganiatlon deserve the hearty co-
operation of the people in their
undertaking and K
"Therefore I O. Coffman mayor
of Chickasha Oklabma .dp hereby
proclaim and declare the week of!
December 4 to 10 1921 as American
Education Week and urge all boys I
girls men and women in the com- I
munity to study seriously the sub-1

"When we do hear from that let-
tor the fans of Chickasha will be
advised exactly the nature of that
reply" said Mr. Stclnberger. "We
want to get this matter closed as
soon as possible and are working
to that end. We want the fans of
Chickasha to be fully advised of
every detail of the negotiations and
we want to hear their suggestions
on such negotiations."

Mason City Iowa Dec. 2. Hun-
find MacMder the recently elected
nutlonal commander of the American
Legion Is known by his comrades
as a smiling dynamic he-man pos-
sessing enormous energy a man
that works harl and plays bard.
Mason City residents know him
ss "the only child" of 'Mr. and Mrs.
Charles H. VacNIder.
Mr. MacNIder was born In Mason
City 32 years ago. He began his
education in tbe Mason City public
schools continued his studies at Mil-
ton Military academy at Milton
iMnss. and finished at Harvard In
1911. Then for five years he work-
ed as a teller in his father's bank
here.
.MncNidcr went to the Mexican
bolder in 191ti as a first lieutenant
In tho Iowa national guard. When
the war came he resigned his com-
mission with the national guard In
order to attenl the first officers
training camp at Fort Snolllng in
May 1917. He was . given a pro-
visional second lieutenancy in the
regular army and assigned to the
Ninth infantry with which the 23rd
made up tho regular army brigade
of the Second division.
Soon after arriving in France in
September 1917 Mr. MacNider was
sent to the army candidates school
at Langres as an instructor. The
service at Langres was boresome.
