the opening 0f the Panama eanul C.
T. P.yrd chairman of the Oklahoma
Participation society of this city has
'left fur that statu to put up to the
legislature ihe advantages of an ex-
hibit here worthy of that common-
wealth. Although a prominent attor-
ney anil largely identified with life
here Mr. llyrd retains his affection for
Oklahoma and interest in her develop-
ment. He resided there many years
was a member of the Oklahoma con-
stitutional convention and served in
the first legislature after her admit-
tance to statehood.
"I love Sun Diego" he said before
he left "hut I can never lose interest
in Oklahoma. The state has made
ouch wonderful strides in the past few
years that anyone who has lived there
must be proud of the state. I have
made a careful study of what the San
Diego exposition can do for Okla-
homa and have decided that I must
give up my time and money and go
back and tell my state the possibili-
ties that lie In an advertisement of
her resources here In l'Jl.".
"Oklahoma needs people. Thou-
sands of fertile acres are lying idle
. calling to the thousands who will come
to America and this port through the
I'anama canal to develop them. Ok-
lahoma needs capital new industries
new blood to develop her splendid re-
sources she can attract all of these
things by advertising her possibilities
at the San Diego exposition and l am
going to do tny best to make such an
advertisement possible."
