Oklahoma Historical Society
The mission of the Oklahoma Historical Society (OHS) is to collect, preserve, and share the history and culture of the state of Oklahoma and its people. The OHS was founded on May 27, 1893, by members of the Territorial Press Association.
Originally published in 1912, the paper functioned as a voice for Democratic African-American interests. In 1913, the paper moved to Tulsa, and the paper continued in its various iterations until 1961.
