Washington Starch 3. Senator Till-
man ti-'s joined Mr. -Stephens in an
elTort to get light on the char 40 that
corrupt influences were used in adju-
dicating some of the claims for en-
rollment in the Choctaw and Ch d a-
saw nations. During a speech deliv-
ered in the house Feb. It Mr. Steph
ens inserted as a part of h'a re-
markscharges irwde hy the attorneys
for about 8000 people who assert that
frand was resorted to to deprive
them of enrollment. Mansfield A!e-
Murray & Cornish were the attorneys
euployed by the two nations to con-
test these claims before the citizen
ship court. Senator Tillman recites
the statement incorporated in Mr. Ste
phens' speech as follows:
"It is alleged that- the members of
the court were bribed and received
as a consideration for their decision
a part of the fees paid to these attor-
neys. Counsel for these claimants
are reliably informed mat the secre-
tary of the interior now lias in his
possession positive proof of the brib-
ery of certain members of that court
said proof setting forth the amount
paid members of the court the time
and place the payments were made
and the manner of the payments. This
evidence lias been in the possession
of the secretary of the interior for
more than three months and yer no
investigation so far as counsel for
claimants have been able to ascertain
has been inaugurated and no proceed-
ings have been Instituted calculated
to bring these guilty parties before
the bar of Justice although the time
in which they can be criminally prose-
cuted is rapidly expiring."
With this as a preamble Senator
Tillman's resolution calls upon the
secretary of the interior to "inform
the senate what foundation there is
for such charges and to transmit to
"Queen of The Washia."

P. II. Littlepage ha3 just returned
from Enid where his roadster Elec
tric Chimes took the red ribbon in a
long list of entries. This horse is one
of the best blood sires owned at Minco.
Mr. Littlepage has a number of other
prize winners among his horses and
his string with those of Rev. Frank
Naylor and Representative Robt. John-
son are fast giving this community an
enviable reputation as a center tot
blooded horses.
Friday night Minco was visited' by
two fires. A large barn in which John
son & Wall had thirty-two tons of hay
stored was burned about ten o'cluck
in the evening. Later a box car loaded
with cotton was compltely destroyed.
A third fire broke out in another car
of cotton early Saturday morning- but
by prompt attention this loss was
averted.
Some think fire bugs are responsible
for these numerous blazes but those
w ho argue that the fires were of incen-
dary origin can find no motive:
This is the third heavy hay loss
Johnson & Wall have suffered within
the last six months.

Guthrie March 2. Oklahoma City
lost friends Saturday night at the ban
quet tendered to the members cf the
legislature and the state officers. The
bannuet vas excellent. The spread
was wen prepared and the diners were
promptly served but in other respect3
the entertainment failed in Its pur
poses of winning friends for the loca-
tion of the state capitol.
Automobiles met the train at :he de
pot and the 150 machines were ample
to accommodate the members of tho
egislature and the state departments
vith their wives but several were cora-
elled tc walk up town while a number
of cars were to be seen In the line that
did not contain a single member of
the legislature or a state officer. They
were occupied by the attaches and
hangers on incident to such excur
sions. One of the parties was a news
boy who sells papers around the city
hall. He had probably traded for the
badge that was furnished the parties
Invited and this badge entitled him to
free entertainment. He got his -automobile
drive and no doubt enjoyed the
outing but it is presumed that hia in
fluence with those wao will locate the
capitol will be very slight.
While the banquet programs an
nounced in beautiful letters that the
function was given to the members of
the legislature and the state officers
neither Governor Haskell nor Speaker
Murray was complimented with v.n as
signment to one of the 27 speaking
numbers. Neither of these gentlemen
vas present but the same was true of
Lieut. Gov. Bellamy who was on the
program.
The most unfortunate feature of all
was the management of the toasc pro
gram. The names on the printed pro-
grams were well distributed among
members of the house the senate the
state departments and the members
f the local chamber of commerce. This
arrangement was ignored altogether.
After three home men had been heard
nd one member of the house had spek-
en about half of the local visitois left
the hall in a body. It soon became
apparent that the senators wera being
slighted and after three of their names
had been skipped and house members
called instead 32 senators out of the
34 present left the hall and local vis
itors were leaving every minute to the
discomfiture of those who were trying
to speak. Finally the senators were
called upon but they were .absen: as
was the audience of 2000 with the ex-
ception of about 200. Several num
bers were not called at all as tho au-
dience had vanished.
Today in the lobbies of the hotels
groups of legislators are discussing
he apparent rudeness of the citizans of
the metropolis and the chamber of
comme rce la being roundly cens -ed
for the trick it played the unsuspect-
ing solons. Were the Invitations to
be repeated a single coach would car-
ry the visitors instead of seven the
number used yesterday. About the
nly delighted man in the city is Speak
er Murray who refused to attend say
ing that he was not here to junket
but to make laws. The report has
been generally circulated since the
legislature convened that Oklahoma
City is not friendly to the presen'. ad-
ministration and those who hid to
this belief are saying "I told you so."
If Oklahoma City secures any v?iy
great favors from the present legisla-
ture she will have to make some
amends for the occurence? ye.itcrdav
evening or else the members of the
legislature will be too ngnani.nous
to hold the grudge against them and
tty to punish tahe innocent fur the
sins of the guilty few.
