We heurd of at preacher who deliv-
ered a sermon ou "Knowing God." the
theme being discussed under three
heads: "Firstly" God cannot be
known; "secondly" you must know
God or go to eternal torment: "third-
ly" how to know God. The convincing
logic of the discourse is supposed to
have reformed several sinners.

Although the state ttstlf has locked
its doors against the use of its own

urges the union laborers of Oklahoma
to take the initiative In a request to
terminate interstate shipments or
prison-made goods Into states and ter

work was rendered very difficult by
the high sea. About seventy per-
sons were brought ashore. Most of
the dead are women and children. A
majority of the survivors are men.
After the accident the captain of the
ship tried to commit suicide.
The Colombia was carrying excur-
sionists from Buenos Ayres to a fes-
tival at Montevideo aad the disaster
haa caused the keenest emotion.
The Schlesien was cniy slightly
damaged and haa been detained here
by the port authorities. Her comman-
der attributed the collision to the wind
and high seas which made both steam-
ers almost unmanageable. The chan-
nel is now partially obstructed by the
wreck of the Colombia. Most of the
survivors were taken from the masts
and many of them were injured.
