VALUE OF TRADE TRIPS.
The Kansas City Commercial club
on its recent trade extension trip
through the Southwest got out a neat
circular containing the picture of each
member and his business On the In-
side of the cover is a statement
worthy of note as it contains the real
secret of the wonderful growth of that
great metropolis of the West ami
South The following Is the statement
referred to:
"Trade extension trips of the Com-
mercial club are designed to regulate
the Imagination by reality and instead
of thinking bow things may be we see
them as they are."
Now you have the .-tiret that made
Kansas City great It teems to bare

and going after them while sleepy old

the growth and prosperity of Lawton

HON. L B. STRINGER'S
VIEWS ON OKLAHOMA
TERRITORY
"Thousands of ooanUmtniftry ex.
pntsalaas of Guthrie and Oklahoma
were heard last week from dalagat
of the National Hditorinl aasostatfen.
but none were more cordial than the
words of Hon. U B. Stringer editor of
itae UhcqIr (III.) Courier who was
tote ra)x Mrs. Stringer. Mr. Stringer
is one of the big Democratic polltialanB
of UHBois. U was the Deneorati9
aeaiiaeefor governor of UHnois against
and development hero but I was
agreeably surprised to note the myriad
evidences of culture and refinement
on every side Why Guthrie is the
most cosmopolitan city In the country.
There are perhaps a few more Kan-
sans here than people from other
states but not. many and hospitality
mixed with good cheer appears to be
a hibll rather than an acquired gift.
Yes I am delighted with the territory
and the people. I like Oklahoma City
too but Guthrie pleases me much
bot.ter The people here are less stilt-
ed in their manners and there are more
opes windows and doors here All
tills bespeaks the home town and
where you have a good home town you
have the beat town in the universe.
Culture is manifest here and as for
musical talent and the art of entertain-
ing few places oan surpass the chief
city of Oklahoma. The temple enter
tsinnwnt was a most pleasing surprise
The N. B A. visit to Guthrie will re-
move some falsa Impreaeionii. Now"
concluded Mr Stringer "where is the
wild west?"
