Whero Are the "Trash Cans."
Tho "trnsh can" law in Guthrlo right
now Is on of tho funny features of
this city's govornmont. Tho right to
placo trasn cans In front of stores
business houses and on principal
places of the avenues and stroets- was
given soveml months ago. Tho cans
woro for the oxprom UBe of trash
waste paper old fruit and tho llko.
Tho peopis were asked to deposit the
refuse In these cans which is all well
and good.
But meanwhile tho trash cans are
piled up. or aro being "built" in one
of the pnvninent hardware stores evi
dently awaiting distribution. A few
days aft" the right to place these
cans on the streets was given an "ig-
nomlnius can" about the site of a
tooth pick holder possibly a trlflo
larger apt.-earod on tho avonuo and
remained about ob long as a cako of
ico placed In tho hot sun. Between
tho time of lie arival an.d duparturo
it wan evidontly tho opinion of tho of-
flcor who placed it thoro that those
who bolted in oboylng tho laws of
tho city would gladly walk all Uio way
lo the lone can and doposlt all waste
papor and rcfuso which ho may pos
sess.
It is said that tho cans arc to carry
advortlseinonts and this may bo ono
of tho .rousons why they aro not on
tho straet In that the advcrtisoinonts
are not printed or painted thoreon.
If tho advertisements cannot bo se-
cured why not distribute thorn If they
are ready so that the city can got
tho uso if thorn boforo thoy forget
that suoh an ordor was passed. Tho
distribution and the uso of tho cans
would tend to cleanso tho city.
