Indian Territory and Statehood.
A cell has been Issued for a con-
stitutional convention ot representa-
tives of the five civilized tribes for
the purpose of taking preliminary
steps looking to tho erection of the
Indian territory In Its present bound-
aries Into a state says the St. Louis j
tllobe-Democrat. For a few years past (
there has been some talk about a de-
sire to have a separate state made of
the Indian territory. The same sort
of talk has been hoard in respect to (
Oklahoma. It is apparently tho lnten- (
Hon of tho Indian territory separate
statehoow agitators to start a move-
inent in favor of admission which will
come up In congrese next winter.
Jt ought to be oasy for sane per-
sons In the Indian torritory to see
that their chances of admission as a
separate stnto aro nil. Oklahoma and
tho Indian torritory will cos; iu as
a single state next wl.ttor If tho mat-
ter of statohood Is mannged Intolll-
gently. There would be no opposition
to ihnt proposition In congress or In
tho country at large while thero
would be powerful oposltion to any
plan which would look for separato
statehood for each of the torrltorlos.
I iltcd. the twin territories would have
about the same area as their neigh-

is a family history of weak lungs with perhaps a case of con-

the congestion and inflammation and the cough disappears.

Colorado. Divided into two states
they would be only specks on the map
of tho west.
Tho politicians of the two territor-
ies want separate Btatehood. They
want It because that would mean a
doubling of the Important offices
which would give a chance for most of
thorn to got public station. The coun-
try however. Is decidedly opposed to
a division of tho territories. Con-
gross would pass a single statehood
act for the two territories at any lime
it was asked but if there should bo
a proposition to make two state out
of them tho chances are that tho
wholo projoct will be defeated and
both will have to remain In their pren-
ont condition a littlo longer. If the
persons In the Indian territory who
aro asking separate statehood are wise
thoy wlU stop this folly. Their destiny
is In union with Oklahoma as a single
state and under these terms they can
get statehood whenever they ask for
It.

The Prevailing Malady.
When your cerebellum's reeling
And you have a creepy feeling.
And the pains aro o'er you stealing
LIko you'd scampered on a tack;
When your neck is nearly breaking
And your everl' bone is aching
And a billion Imps are making
Footprints up your cringing back;
Whon you'ro full of grlofs infernal
And your pabulum diurnal
Is In chief put on external
And you do not caro to oat;
When your head is madly Jumping
And your love of Hfo is stumping.
And you're bumping and you'ro thump
ing
From your topnot to your feet;
Whon with fever you are burning
And tho throbblngs oft returning
To the start bring on a yearning
For a bucket full of lco;
When you thrash tlio bed and swear

That there's nothing can compare to
All tho achlngs you are holr to
That are anything but nice;
When you hurt from head to too sir
And you draw the ice pan closor
Then It Is that you Bhould know sir
That It's got you on tho hip;
And for all your frantic walling
You will have to keep on ailing-
For you've got the grand prevailing
