TEN MILLION BUSHELS OF
MAY CORN UNLOADED.
Armours and Cudahy Cause Price to
( Drop Two Cents on the Chi-
cago Board of Trade.
Chicago III. March 19. Corn as the
maolstrom of an excited business on
tho board of trade today and dropped
2 cents of its Saturday's taluo.
Holders of that cereal appeared to
havo no furthor uso for it and dumped
millions of bushols In tho pit that they
had previously bought for May deliv
ery.
(Not less than 10000000 bushols of
corn wore unloaded amid greater ex
citement than has been seen on change
since the collapso Decomber last of
tho doal manlpulatod by Cleary tho
SL Louis speculator.
Tho principal selling today of May-
corn was ascribed to both Armour &
Co. and John Cudahy. Armour's
brokers opened tho trading by cautious
buying of July corn and suddenly they
took the traders by surprlso by turn-
ing loose so much of the long May
option that tho market for a time was
fairly congested.
Cudahy followed tho examplo of Ar-
mour and also turned Into tho market
a long line. Armour and Cudahy for
some time havo been long on May
corn with an Immense lino. It Is
thought that the two big traders were
induced to s.oll by tho reports that Ar-
gentina was offering corn freely to Eu-
rP Ior nearuy suipmonts anu mai
Russia also was entering tho flold at a
lower figure.
