(By Associated Press.)
Chicago III. Aug. IB. Oscar

who makes tho charge that ho and
"Daddy" CJaffcy and a man suppos-
ed to bo Wm. Bartholin were quarrel-
ing under her window at 4 o'clock In
tho morning after Minnie Mitchell dis-
appeared; and that with them was
Thompson's laundry wagon In which
it Is supposed the murdered girl's
body was carted to tho pralrlo. Said
ho;
"I tVrned in my laundry wagon at
Agur's stables tho night Minnie Mit
chell was killed about 8:30 o'clock
then went to the house In Calumet
avenuo. I met Bartholin In tho house.
I do not know what happened there.
I went to my room and alter that I
cannot say anything as to what trans
pired In tho house. I may have been
drunk or I may havo boon drugged; I
do not know. I do not deny now that
I went out with him but I cannot ro-
momber whatever I did ho mado mo

of Mrs. Annie Bartholin arrived to-
day from Denver and at once placed
himself In tho hands of the police.
Edwards was frank In his statements
and showed no signs of nervousnoss.
To a reporter of the Associated Press
ho said
"I barely know Thompson. I never
was a doctor or hypnotist and could
not poasibly have put Thompson un-
der ary Influence as ho stated. I
havo already bald that 1 thought
things were queer at tho Bartholin
home and that la the reason I left
tnero.
"I have a few things more to tdll
the chief of police but the public must
wait until the chief speaks. I saw
Bartholin kissing a woman in the
house but what bearing that may
havo on the case I do not know."
Edwards was cross examined by
Chief of Police O'Neil and Inspector
Hunt but practically nothing now wns
elicited
Rdwnrd met Thompson. The men
dded to each other but said nothing.
