lion. W. II. Darrough census
supervisor of tho Indian Territory
camo ' up from Vinlta Tuesday
evening returning Wednesday.
Ho reports the' work of the
oaumerators well under way somo
of tho district having completed
the enumerations' while others
will have to bo granted an exten-
sion of timo in which to complete
their labors. IIo also reports
both from personal knowledgo and
reliable information obtained from
those who have been over the
country that crops of all descrip-
tions are of both a larger area and
of abetter quality than over before
in the history of the nations. Wo
aleo learn from him that there is
strong talk of the Cherokees tak-
ing their allotments under the
Cuitis bill. Whilo tbo same is
not satisfactory yet they aro get-
ting tired of waiting and aro anx-
ious to have things settled and get
themselves in a condition to know
what belongs to each one and to
know that what they are occupying
is their own. Surely these people
are capablo of managing their own
affairs. Wyandotte correspond

The Grove Messenger ought to
blow off. It is in line with the
Davis Hill Booster of VInita in
printing libellous and slanderous"
articles. Tbe Grove delegates
were instructed for Preston S.

were uninstructed for Marcum
They let a Davis Hill man take
Preston Davis badges oil of them
on tho way down to Ardmoro and
when thoy got to Ardmoro they
bolted tbo convention and went off
wllh Hill' Marcum & Co. in the
teeth of their instruction and in
the face.of tho will of a majority
of tho members of their -club.
They were worked from Reynolds

admiration between tbo GTove

.There woro two freaks at the
Cljicago stock
yards this week
that is two new ones.
One was a
steer that climbed upon
the roof
of tho hog house and from this
vantage ground jumped to tbe top
of n viaduct Altor Burveying thc-
ldndscape o'er he again alighted
to the hog houso and finally de-
scended to terra firm a without
further incident. The other freak
was a five legged steer. Tbe fifth
leg was pronounced by a veterin-
arian as entirely perfect. It has
three hind legs and uses all of
them for locomotion. A showman
paid $250 to-- tho owner for this
"850000 five legged steer."
