of all and probanly hadn't an enemy
in tho world. Ho had attended tho
Seminary at Tahlequah and taken a
course of studies at Austin Tex. and
stood high in his classes in both
ochools. ills death is a sad blow to

tils death he professed faith In tho

Judge Denison has returned from
Washington whete he has been for
severnl days In behalf of tho Watts
Cobb and other similar claimants to
Oherocco citizenship. Special Com-
missioner Duncan reporting his Inqur
ries into the question this summer
finds that tbe (Jobb Payne and Hull
families have been legally admitted to
citizenship and that their citizenship
has never been legally taken from
them. It recommends that .Mr. Cobb
has bean illegally dispossessed of his
property at Webber's Falls and that It
should be returned to him. He finds
that the Watts family technically con-
strued bavo never been legally ad-
mitted to citizenship in tho Cherokee
nation. It seems that tbo Cherokeo
laws at tbo time required that citizen-
ship should be allowed by tho supreme
court in special session and that tho
records do not show that this case was
passed upon In such session.
In his general report on tho Intruder
cases placod under his inquiry Com-
missioner Duncan says; ''Tboio pep
sons whose claims to citizenship I
bayo investigated and whoso rights aro
to bo passed upon by the department
are as a class intelligent industrious
peaccablo and luwrabiding citizens."
"All of them scout to have made their
application for citizenship in good
fattb and wero led to believe (by tho
Cherokeo authorities) that they had
beon properly and Ipgally admitted
and on tho strength of these represen-
tations given tbem by the courts ac
