BULLETIN.
Paris July 22 Strong counter-attack delivered last night by
the Germnaa on the front between the Ourcq and the Marne were
.broken by the allies the war dffice announced today. The allies
not only drove back the attack but by a stiff countre succeeded in
advancing their own positions more than a mile and took guns and
several hundred prisoners.
The statement reads:
"During the night the Germans limited their reaction to
artillery bombardments north of the Ouroq and between the Marne
and Rbeims notably in the region of the Courton and Roi woods.
"Between the Ourcq and the Marne we have broken strong1
counter-attacks.
The enemy counter blows were delivered in the region of
Oriscolles seven miles west of Thierry and Beus43t.Front four
miles south of Thierry.
North of the Ourcq and between the Marne and Rheima the
enemy's reaction was limited to artillery fire. The fire was Pr.
ticularly noticeable in the region of tiie woods of Courton and Kol.
