Tlio fellow who was poking
ntout the Mtrccts ono dark night
and foil into nil excavation for n
now building nnd couldn't got out
was a philosopher of this school.
Ho know that sonto other fool
woqld bo along nftor nwhllo nnd
fall in too if ho kept quiet. But
thoro nro instnneoB of misfortune
in' which ono may fool nwful lono-
homo nnd which nru repeated in
spltoof all tho noise that can bo
mndo about it. Tho Harjoos nnd
tho Miccoos and Toholot-s and tho
Bofkics nnd tho Mnthns nnd tho
Fig.R-mus-chals and our brothers
tho Creeks generally nro raising
aftoTil of a rucus about tho 10 per
cent of tho $2800000 for which
they sold tho western part of their
domain. This is n groat misfor-
tuno to- tho Crocks generally nnd
thcTO is n degrco oJ loncsomoncss
about it that can nover bo reliovctl
by others oqually unfortunate or
who may tun-.blo into tho same
)ioln. In fact thcro is no- chanco
for company in so great a misory
unless tho Chcrbkccs concludo to
soil thoir wostorn lands and nro
idiots enough to rjiro 10 por cent
on tho proceeds of tho salo to n
lot of follows to jay to the govern-
ment of tho Utiitod States that
tlioy nro willing to soil. That
was about all tho legal scrvico
necessary to securo n salo of thoir
lands. Paid assistanco in getting
tho question boforo congress and
in securing such action as was
wanted was about as noccssary as
would hnvo been tho hiro or an
ajent to sell "a fourth part of n
cab of dovo's dung for fivo pieces
of filvcr" in tho streets of tho be-
sieged Samaria in her greatest dis-
tress. When a trade amounts to
millions of dollars thoro is a seem-
ing infinity to tho sum that cannot
bo comprehended by tho uncdu-
catod mind and as a conscqucnco
somobody who can figuro out tho
immensity of the sum or compro-
bond tho vastness of the transac
tion is called on to tako charge of
tho matter nnd is given a high per
ccutago of that which will tell
itself becauso of its great demand.
Should tho Chcrokccs conclude to
sell thoir lands at a reasonable
prico thcro can bo no plea that at-
torneys should bo employed be-
causo the lands aro in demand and
there will bo no need cither of -lob
by or logo! assistanco to induce
congress to buy. To hiro nn
ngont to soil that which you can
Bell yourself and ought to and
contract a per ccntago that you
kick up a rucus nbout because it
amounted to a great deal more
than you in your ignornnca
thought it would is an acknowl
edgement that you aro n lot of
lunatics and don't know what you
nro nbout.
Ignorance is always oxcusablo
but knowledge is not when put to
dishonorable purposes or when it
allows itself to bo imposed upon.
To mislead tho ignorant by false
representations of difficulties and
necessities for personal ends is n
degree of perfidy that overtops tho
robbery of a helpless cripple and
then to call it "superior wisdom"
is worso still.
THE KANSAS CITY TIMES.
The Kansas City Times in giv-
ing expression to its indignation
becauso tho Chcrokccs want tho
Taluo of tho lands of tho outlet
rocommmends what it terms tho
"use of tho friendly Indian
clause" o! tho treaty of 'CO to
punish them for not being willing
to tako less. Thoro is a degrco of
rascality in its propositions and in
its villainous assertions that would
unsettle every principle of right
nnd rob the defenseless wcro it
not for tho law's penalties.
It is not nor can bo denied that
tho government of tho United
States has tho right to scttlo
friendly Indians on those lands.
Neither can it bo doubted if tho
TimoB should havo tho manage-
ment of tho matter that tho Chcr-
okccs would reccivo nothing for
thoir lands but luckily'for them it
doos not Tho good Lord novor
helps tho dovil in his work by put-
ting such in authority.
Tho Chorokocs nro not much
aformod that all in authority aro
Moves and robbers or that thoy
though Indians will not bo pro-
tectcd in thoir rights if not for tho
ssko of right for the sako of tho
honor of that government of which
Uu Tiiacs is not a representative.
All. wo want is a chanco to do-

Several prominent physicians did mo
little If nny good. I begnn to uso It. It.

man physically. Nothing seemed to
do mo nny gooil; my mother persuaded

Ishment every ulcer quickly healed."
llcnl Harris Atlanta na. writes:
"1 suffered jcars from syphilitic blood

n hopeless case. I had no appetite I
had pains in hips nnd joints and my
kidnoys wuro diseased; my throat wits
ulcerated and my brensln mass of run-
ning sores. In this condition I com-
menced to nscItll.U. It healed every
ulcer nnd sore nnd cured me complete-
ly within two months."
Cancer
is a form of blood poison which is
not understood by tho medical
profession ns to its roal naturo and
character but is evidently heredi-
tary in its naturo. It may acci-
dentally dovolop itself without any
predisposition or ovidenco of such
oxisting poison. Tho knifo or
caustic salves havo been tho so-
called remedies fur it but all hon-
est practitioners will tell you that
this treatment fails to euro nnd
only hastens fatal results. Thou-
sands of cases of epithelioma (skin)
cancers nnd a groat many cases of
scirrus cancers havo bcon entirely
cured by the uso of Swift's Specific.
It forces tho poison out through
tho cancer itself and tho pores of
tho skin.
My father had cancer; my hus-
band had cancer in fact diou with
it. In 1875 a lump camo on my
nose which steadily increased in
size and alarmed mo. I used va-
rious remedies salves and other
applications and finally tried to
to burn it out but the soro return-
ed worso than ever crowing larger
and more angry until I determined
to try Swift's Specific. I took tho
mcdicino and it soon mado n com-
plcto euro. I know that S. S. S.
cured mo because I discarded all
other remedies. This was several
years ago and I havo had no sign
of tho return of the'eancer.
