The Income Tax imposed by Act
of Congiess on earnings of the year
1910 Is now being collected.
Returns under oath must bo made
on or before March 15 by every citi-
zen and resident who had u net In-
come for l!)lf) amounting to:
$1000 or over if single; or If mar-
ried and living apart from wife (or
huard) ; or if widowed or divorced.
$2000 or over If married and living
wi'h w'fe (or husband).

Under any of these circumstances a
return must bo made oven though
no tax is duo.
Husband and wife must consider
the income of both plus that of de-
pendent minor children In meeting

shown in a joint return or In separate
returns of husband and wife.
A single person with minor depend-
ents mut include the income of such
depo" ' :it s.
A minor who has a net Income of
$1000 or more Is not considered a

return.
Personal returns should lo made on
Form 10'OA unless the net income
exceeded S.'i.ooO in which ense Form
1040 hould be used.

How to Figure Income.
The belt way to find out whether
one must file a return Is to get a Form
U" OA and follow the Instructions

or deductions a person may secure free
advice and aid from the nearest Inter-
nal Revenue office.
Guesswork estimates and other hlt-or-miss
methods are barred when a per-
son is mnk'ng out his Income Tax re-
turn. Accuracy and completeness must
be Insisted upon. The return is n
sworn statement. As such It must be
thorough and accurate.

the profits of a business- value of quar-

Trustees executors administrators
and others acting in a fiduciary capac-
ity are required to file returns. In
some cases Form 1011 is used; in
others Form 1010; nnd still others
returns on both forms are required.
