Mr. Uerbeit House secrtnry
of Jtepublioa -State Committee
is a candidate for collector of
Internal Reveluie for the dis-
trict of Oklahoma. Mr. House
is a working Republican
and has made great sacrifice for
the sake of tho paity. It is due
lo such workers as lie that I he
party made such great gains
and when such party workers
are rewarded it means a good
strong heallhy support for the
future and more victories. Wo
like to ' see all elements of (he
party recognized and there is
no better time than in the he
ginning which is now. We
feel sure that ' organiznlion is
behind Mr. House and that he
will win out.
The law and order league are
present in court each day and
are assisting in the prosecution
of law breakers. We hope
there efforts will be directed
against all regardless of color.
The city election is just over
tin fence and the indications
are Unit wo will have a three
cornered light Republican
Democrat and Citizens ticket.
It will he a lively tilt with
chances favoring thcRepubli
cms if a clean ticket is put up.
Taxes must be paid by the 15
if you would save the penalty.
(Jet busy now and pay up.
'Hhe many aspirants lor afliqe
are' now h'ead towards Wash
inton and on Mar. 'lib t.hey
will be.'there in full force.
Governor Haskell has sent his
message to the Legislature mid
oursolons are now gelling down
to business. We hope our law-
makers will make a better out
than their predecessors and that
capital will be invited to come
to our state instead of being
driven away. Gov. Haskell
understands the situation and
wo believe will do the right
thing to1 encourage capital to in
vest in our state. Aside from
his unfortunate political lean
ings the Governor is a splendid
fellow and in polities he has the
admirable trait of taking care
of those who were loyal to him.
In this particular our Republi-
can friends might take a few
lessons. For instance if the
Negroes had been loyal to the
Democrats as they have been to
the Republican and there had
been two Democrat jury com
niissioners then there would
have been some Negro jurois
selected. It leaked out in couu
ty 'court that the two Uepubli
can jury commissioners had
failed to select one Negro jury
man. Haskell never would
have been as ungrateful to his
helpers and yet We Republicans
cuss the Democrats. It might
he better to cuss the lily whiles
and give the Democracy a rest.
Heifer clean out the motes at
home then we could better ban
die the Democrats beam..
Our schools are crowded. We
need more room and more
teachers. The Douglass School
should be enhirged and we
should have a High School and
now we suggest to the school
board that we are for bonds and j
will vote them but we must
haVe a High- School for our
children. It is badly needt d
and fairness demands that when
the-olher High Schools aie built
we should have one also.
' The citizens of Reeves "Addi
Lion to the city of Minkogee
have petitioned the City Colin
cil for an opening of the streets
electric light and vateieonncq-
tions. They should receive
what they ask for and at once..
They have to pay taxes and de
sr'rve to he treated fairly. Street
connection to the city proper is
badly needly and police protec
tion should be 'gien this addi-
tion the same as other additions
We hope theCily Council will
not continue to disregatd the
wishes of the deserving law
abiding citizens who reside in
the addition. They simply ask
for justice and will be satisfied
with nothing less.
The daily papers are contin.
ually howling against the Ne
gro gun toter." Why not com
plain against all violatcisof (he
law white' and red as well as
black. The color of an outlaw
should not give him license.
The white outlaw is no better
than the black one. They are
all undesirable citizens and
should receive the same treat
ment. Newspapers should be
fair to all classes of citizens.
