It la high time (hat the negroes ot
the new state were getting a com-
mit too in readiness to go down to
the national capitol to offset any-
thing that may ho attempted by
Messrs. Mitch and Hopkins who
will go there to convince the presi-
dent that Jim 'Crowism Is what the
people of the now state desire.
The many attempts of the negro-
hatlng members of the constitution-
al convention Xo Jim Crow the negro
citizens of the new state have met
with a failure hecauso the cusses
have not the norve to do what they
promised. The follows are banting
some excuse to give for their failure
tc make tho negro the issue as they
promised
"Side Lights on the Race Ques-
tion" by .Mrs. Kate Ktnboy Urooks
in a well written article on the race
(lUOation published In the Chicago
llroad Axe. It should be read by
every colored person and every un-
prejudiced while person in the coun-
try. Coming from an educated and
( allured white ludy It will have the
effect of making tho best class of
white people think more favorably
of tho negro.
T1k smallpox created a stampede
at the convention In Guthrie; but as
soon as the scare was over they be-
gan anew to d tho negro. It is
their only stock in trade.
Who shall wo nominate for con-
gressman from this district?' It's a
Republican district and surely we
won't let in another Democrat as we
old Haskell.
Some white soldiers "shot up the
horth town" at Columbus Ohio re-
cently and so far wo have not heard
ol their dismissal from service.
The negroes of tho 75th district
aie not surprised when they hear
ihat Delegato Hopkins is going to
Washington to convlnco Roosevelt
that Jim Crow is O. K. They knew
his leaning somo time ago.
The ilrst thirty days of tho con-
stitution makers it scorns to us was
given to lighting booze and tho last
thirty days to negro-phobia. They
lave now put In sixty days and the
pay stops and these statesmen will
also stop. Next time the Job will bo
given to men who-will do biz.
Tho negroes of the stato cannot be
fooled by any dodgo Ross Haskell
: ml Hoss Murray may attempt to put
up in ord'sr to get votes for tho mis-
tit they are making and naming it
constitution. Might as well namo
onion "Rose."
fooled by it.
No one would be
If Boss Haskell would just recon-
sider all that has been done and
adopt the constitution of the United
States and then go home tho people
would have something for the money
spent and in the future county
linos can be made and legislation
mado by tho state legislature.
Any person knowing of the ad-
dross of any of the discharged col-
ored soldiers of the Twenty-fifth In-
fantry (discharged by executive or-
der) will please send such address

A COAIISM DlfttiOUKATir THICK.
Haskell's resolution introduced
lit the Democratic constitutional
convention to send Delegate Hopkins
to Washington to Mud out what
President Roosevelt will do with tho
constitution If the Democrats put in
"Jim Crow" provisions Is the coars-
est and cheapest trick yet born in
that confederate gathering.
It Is an insult to the president to
undertake such a cluinbsy trick and
In as Impolite and unprofessional as
It would be to go to' a judge and
seek by some trick or device to get
his opinion in advance on somo law
suit or motion ponding before him.
Unfortunatoly such practices have
gone so long In this country and
many limes have won that the con-
science of some men have become
blunted and they lllng decency and
honor Into the gutter.
If Hopkins was not in favor of
these things and was not the tool of
Haskell ho would have instantly
denounced the resolution as a brutal
outrage unbecoming any citizen of
the stato let alone a sworn delegate
to a constitutional Convention.
The longer these things runs the
more disrespect .and contempt these
men bring upon the state and them-Kolves.

diers." Everyone who desires to enjoy a

vantage of this opportunity.
The colored citizens of Rentles-
llle are making herculean efforts

sons and will be of great bsnefit to

DHMOCIIATS TO HOLD UP
XKCiltO CltlMlXAIj VOTES
Special to tho Oklahonian.
Muskogee I. T. .Inn? 23. Demo-
crats In Indian Territory are making
a systematic effort to get the names
of all persons who have been con-
victed of crime In the territory
which forfeits their right of fran-
chise. It Is known that a very largo
l.er cent of tho criminals are ne-
groes. Thoy will voto the Republi-
can ticket;. If it can bo shown that
they have forfeited their right to
vote on account of crime their vote
will be challenged in the first stato
and county elections. After tho
records are made each county will
bfc supplied with a copy. It is al-
leged that this will give a good ad-
vantage to the Democrats and will
be Important in the close counties.
The above shows our old enemy
the Democracy is getting ready for
the next battle and as usual thoy
are training their guns on the negro.
We must unite against our common
foe. Ed.
