THE IjLGTEF? PUOLIGHED EVERY WEEK IN THE INTER' E8T OF THE NEQRO OY CIMETER PUD. CO ENTERED AT THE POST OFFICE AT MUS' KOQEEt I. T. AS SECOND CLASS MAIL MAT TER. W. H. TWINE R WOOD . J. T. TRIMBLE E. T. HEARNE Editor. . Ass't Editor. Gcn'l Solicitor . City Reporter For Delegate to the Constitution- al Convention: A. G. W Sango of Muskogee. We arc authorized to an- nounce W. h. Everts as a can- didate for Mayor subject to the action of the Republican party. Tho Cinietcr stands pat on being against immorality vice licentiousness and it does not matter who the persons are or the position they may occupy. Our friend the Searchlight for- gets that a safety valve should never be over loaded for if it is something may happen. It would be well is our worthy contemporary would let the pot alone while the cooks are away. Old Allidavit Taylor is still cussing the Cimeter and mak- ing dire promise for our hurried departure from the journalistic arena but we are still doing ing business at the old stand and if Hayman (Old Allidavit Tay- lor) has finished the gallows we are willing that he be hanged on the same. The fellows that want Judge Kaymond removed are the worst element of democrats (The bet- ter element are honest enough to be fair) and lilywhite repub- licans who hate Judge Kaymond because he like our President Koosevelt believes in giving ev- ery man "a square deal." The committeo appointed by Mr. Fuller the inspector from the department of Justice was composed of democrats and lily white republicans. The colored members of the bar were not considered. It was the social bar association and not the Mus- kogee bar who were considered by Mr. Fuller. Davis the Lincoln club dicta- tor in a speech recently at a pow wow said all tho old leaders are traitors and will sell out. This was a broad statement and in defense of the old gang wo ask who ho referred to as some of them refered to are still alive and then wo won- der if Davis had sold out when lie advised tho Negro to vote against Ross Shackleford the regular Republican nominee for Recorder. Davis did this in a public meeting on tho bill and we wonder if the Negroes who were present-have forgotten the advice given by this new leader who poses as a paragon of hon- IIoll is full of his class of misfits The representative of tho At- torney General joined in with the democrats ( it may have been unintentionally) in draw- ing the color line. There are ten members of the bar (colorod men) who were denied permis- sion of being present when the fellows who filed charges against Judge Raymond were attempt- ing to prove their rharges. The excuse for denying us admis- sion was that we were not mem- bers of the (social) bar associa- tion an organization that no Negro can join. These demo- crats are smooth ducks and they fooled the Ass't Attorney general or else ho willingly joined them in their color line prejudice. Hon. J 0. Johnson a promi- nent colored lawyer and a mem- ber of tho Wewoka bar was present with the other lawers of that place and took part in the proceedings that endorsed Judge Raymond. At Muskogee the Arkansas product of bourbon- ism and democracy (the Ft. Smith brand) was in the ascen- dancy wlr.n the bar met and they hid behindthe social bar to prevent a Negro from being present. There were some fel- lows in the deal who are not from Ark. but are under that influence which means the same thing to us as a race. Every Negro will remember the action of the race haters and when the time comes as it surely will there will boa settlement.
