noon by tho Texas legislature in ex-
actly three hours by tho watch. The
two committees ono in tho scnato and
the other In the house gave an audi-
enco to tho D-tllas attorneys nil the
morning to ascertain their objections
and protests to the passago of the law.
After hearing the gentlemen until
noon the two committees adjourned.
When the two houses met at 3 o'clock
both committees were ready to report
and the senate bill was very
promptly considered. Prom tho timo
the bill wns placed before tho sen-
ators to the time It passed was ex-
actly flfty-tlvo minutes. During this
time Senator Dean opposed the bill
and Senator Luskcr spoke in Its favor.
There were only two gentlemen who
spoke on the bill the balanco satisfy-
ing themselves by voting. The vote
on tho llnal passage of the bill was 27
ayes ond 1 no Dean being tho nega-
tfve voter. The bill was immediately
sent ot cr to tho house and nt I o'clock
that body began discussing It substi-
tuting tfie senate bill for the house
bill. After several gentlemen had
spoken on tho bill and the emergency

bill passed the house by n vote of 110

been in consultation all day with rail-
road representatives notably of the
