bo 60x140 feet and built of brick
with plato glass (routs on Douglas
avenue and Second street and will
certainly bo a dandy building thru-
out. Pholps Brothers are certainly
to be commended for tholr enter-
prise In putting In such a building at
this time'. Their optimism should
bring them results and It will. It
takes such live aggressive business
men to mako a town go. Tho con-
stant holder-back who waits for a
inoro convenlont season has killed
many a good town which could have
been forged ahead by right business
methods. The men who make
Beaver aro those who Invest their
money hero and mako tho town. If
thero are any favors or preferences
to be shown thoso aro tho fellows
who are entitled to it. Mon like

en a life partner In his business.
While the Junlorjinembcr there Is no
doubt but that he will be boss. His
name Is Herbert Noble Lawson jr.
and the new partnership was con-
summated at an early hour Tuesday
February 12th Lincoln's birthday.
Wo remarked to Mr. Lawson that the
young man's name should havo been
Abraham Lincoln but ho said Mrs.
Lawson just Insisted on calling the
new heir and son Herbert Noble. Of

chance of nil for escapo many prob-
ably being killed outright by tho ex-
plosion. Coupled with tho heroic
work of the British convoys was tho
wonderful calmness of the men on
board th'o Ill-fated ship. Thero was
no panic. When tho crash came and
tho alarm to man tho boats was given
our American soldiers many of them
scarcely more than boys and only
partially trained lined up on deck

Iloland T. Ingels former teacher
at Balko and who enlisted In the avia-
tion service early last year was re-
ported as wounded recently "Some-
where In France" according to a dis-
patch received by relatives at Alva
last week. Particulars were not
given. Mr. Ingels was well known
to .many Bcavor county people. Ho
Is a member of tho local Easter Star
chapter. News of his Injury Is ro-
celved with deep concern and nil are
trusting that his wounds aro slight.

Last Friday night Kramer Keith
of Hardesty was brought Into town
with a broken limb. Ho was driv-
ing a team when tho horses becamo

of II. E. Q. Putman and is 18 years
old. Ho was accompanied by his

of them haa wound up with measles
and ono or two other troubles which
have comblncd'to keep her at home
