T. I). McIIarg- Is Demi.
Latt Sunday morning about 11.30 o'clock
T. IU Mcllurg died very suddenly at his
home one-fourth mllo southeast of Heaver of
heart failure. Mr. nnd Mrs McIIarg aud
Ihrco children had arrived from Woodward
the night before to answer a chargo of
abandoning their claim. The hearing had
been but fur Mouday before (Frobalc Judge
Tracy Mr. McIIarg arose Sunday uioruiug
apparently a well mid healthy man ate a
hearty breakfast and talked of going lo
Tunduy School. A short time before ho
died be complained of a slight pain in bis
chest and of feeling nick. He pal down on
a box just outside of the door nnd in n few
minutes fell to the ground nud expired with-
out speaking. Uis death was entirely unex-
pected and was a terrible shock to his fam-
ily. The remains were talceu charge of by
Oklahoma Foet No. 1 0. A. It. or which the

place Tuesday The funeral scrmou was
preached at the Fresbylerian church by Rev.
Bitterly of Liberal. The grief-stricken
wife and children have Ihe heart. felt sympa-
tqy of all in this hour of trouble.
Tho deceased located In Denver in 1S01
nnd took the claim over which he was hav-
ing some tronble in I S!.. He worked at
his trade of jewlcr in Heaver until about
two years ago when he opeued a shop In
Woodward making trips ts his claim at
various limes sufticient he thought lo hold
it. Someone made affidavit of his nou-resU
dence nnd his claim was reported fur can-
cellation which as we have slated was Ibe
cause of hi present trip to Ueaver. How
the litigation will be settled we do net know
but it is the wish and desire of everyone in
the vicinity that the. widow and children
will net lose their home.
The Texas Cow.
The old-fashioned Texas cow runs veiy
much to horns angles and bip boots
being built on tho Swiss style of archi-
tecture liko tho razor-back hog.
Tho old-fubhioncd Texas cow is very
thin. She is among cows what Sarah
Bernhardt is among actresses. Like
tho new parasol eho wears her ribs on
the outside. During a recent tour thro'
Texas observed that bho tho cow not
Sarah is gettiug thinuer and thinner
aud she will probably disappear alto-
gether. The old-fashioned Texas cow is cov-
ered all over with figures and letters.
In the days of Iter early girlhood sho is
usually branded with the initials of her
owner and as each subsequent owner
adds his braed before the retires from
drculatiun her appearance creates the
impression in the mind of the Northern
I tourist tbat she is broken put all over
with tho multiplication labia.
While tho quantity or the quality of
her milk (a not up to that or the thor-
oughbred Aldcrncy it is preferred lo the
lac'col fluid sold in Now York. It
would indeed be a dissipated and reckless
cow that wouldn't bo nhnmcd to own
up to being rcsponRibln for the milk
peddled in largo cities which is composed
of water glyecrino nitrnte of potassium
and oilier compounds pleasant to tho
taste. Of course all such milk cornea
from tho cow a great way from the
cow. Compared with the city milk that
of tlio Texas cow is richness itself und
you novcr find little frogs in it.
Attempts to improve tho breed of the
Tcxns cow have been only partially suc-
cessful. Great results bo railroad men
say have been obtained from crossing
tho longhorned Texas cow with a loco-
motive and a train of cars for accerding
to tho verdict of the jury that asschses
the damages iu fuvor of tho owner alio
becomes a thoroughbred imported ani-
mal wortlt at IcaBt 800. A similar
improvement has been noticed with tho
slab sided razor-back hog which be-
comes a hili-priccd Herkshirc when the
railroad has to ecttlo fur running over
him.
Tho ; revised edition of Webster's
dictionary contains 12000 words but
they will not bo a particle of uso to a
