Tho following from tho Texas Sioeks
mau and Farmer cpplios equally as well
to Beaver county:
Tho nntitiul loss to Texas stockmtn
IV tin tho ruvages of wild nuimtils is situs
pty enormous and the worst of it is that
lotses from this c.iusn are increasing
year by year lather than diminishing.
The loss to sheepmen can palely bo es-
timated nt anywhern from "j to 20 per1
cent according to locality whito the lots
to cattlemen is anywhere from 2 to 10
per cent of their young stock. Since
the decline of tho sheep industry in this
state wild animals huve been increasing
to an nlarming extent. Tho dobo wolf
formerly but little known in went Texas
can now bo found in almost every coun-
ty in the rango districts of tho state
while panthers wild cats and coyotes
have increased in like proportion. This
wild animal pest is n serious problem
and nne in which all stockmen arc equal-
ly interested. It will cost loss to ex-
terminate these pests this year than it
will a year henco und the next legisla-
ture will bo called upon to p:is an
ofTectivo scalp bounty law. Just what
that law should bo we aro not prepared
to state. Whether the coot of exter-
minating these wild animal peats should
he borne by tho counties or the state is
n matter for tho legislature to decide
and wo believe when tho timo come
they will act fairly in this matter which
means so nueh to so many people.
