We call tho attoution tf our readers
to the nrticlo on Taxes found iu our col-

not much of a kick coming on the mat-
ter of tho Territorial raise nnd (hat. the
largest item of taxation is the support of
Hchoolri which the people vote ou thems
selves. We would advise our readers
that the money spent in lawsuits would
count fur mote if used in payment of

Mr. and Mrs Blanchard vi.-ited our
school Oct. 31st. nnd Mis. Blanchard
gave in a talk on tho eourso of study fur
diulriet schools. It is a subject that
should engage the attention of pupils
patrons and teachers and I am very ghd
that our County Supciintcndent is urging
that our public Echool.s be graded.

Mr. G. T. Walker informs us that
Tainter and Perry aro having tho best
fire guard plowed that ha3 ever been
mado in tlie county. Two strips aro
being plowed one of them a rod wido
and tho other one a half-rod wide thirty
or forty yards apart and the grass be-
tween will be burned off- This extends
from Clear creek cast about twelve miles.
These enterprising cattle men cannot be
. too highly commended for their cntet
prise and their cxxruplc tdiould be fol-
lowed by others. It is a sure protection

prompte Uicm to this outlay it incidentally
protects others who eould nut afluid the
