Ravia March 14. We had
srndid rains throughout this
part and farmers are jubilant.
lligh water last Saturday
prevented us getting any mail.
The prayer meeting was large-
ly attended Sunday and great
interest manifested. We have
a good Sunday school organi-
zation here now.
The heavy rains prevented
our .weekly session of the Ly-
ceum club last Friday.
There is some talk of erect-
ing a church house hera. We
need it badly.
Rev. D. Iludsou will preach
at Panther Ridge next Sunday.
Subject: "Christian Perfec-
tion." The little child of Uncle
Johnie Fair which has been
quite sick is getting well.
Forest Jordan representing
the Ardmokeite was here last
Friday in the interest of that
spleudid paper.
War talk is all you can hear
now aud many are ready to
go to a hiding place.
The roads between this point
and Ardmore are reported
as being in a fearful bad condi-

All the Prisoners Escaped.
Perry Ok. March 14. All
the prisoners in the federal and
county jail escaped here at
midnight but the escape was
not known until this morning
the jailer being locked up in a
cell by the prisoners.
At midnight one of the pris-
oners made a pretense of being
sick and induced Turnkey
Wells to bring to him some
water. By some means the
prisoners had got out of their
cells and were in tne jail corri-
dor. When the jailer appeared
they grabbed aud pushed him
in a cell having taken the keys
from him. They gathered up a
full supply of firearms and
escaped. The jailer was not
released until late this morn-
ing. Life is short; one bottle of Dr.

Chicago Wants Southern Trade.
Chicago March 14. Local
merchants are being urged to
reach out for the Texas trade
now practically owned by St.
Louis. James A. Davis the
industrial commissioner of the
Santa Fe has just returned
from a trip through Texas and
says that Chicago traveling men
are practically unknown there.

Woman Ends Her Life.
Leavenworth Kas. March
14. Maggie Kelly a woman
who conducted a refreshment
stand at the Soldiers' Home
was found dead this afternoon
at 1 o'clock in a hovel within
100 yards of the home. She
took strychnine and expired
immediately. She said one
week ago that she would rather
be in hell than live with ber
husband who is an. iumate of
the home.
For some time I have suffered
with rheumatism and tried every Im-
aginable remedy without effect. Mr.
F. O. S. Wells advised me to try
Chamberlain's pain balm telling me
it had cured many cases of long
standing like mine. I have need four
bottles and feel sure that one more

Earthquake Destroys Uvea.
Tacoma Wash. March 14.
An earthquake destroyed the
town of Amboina. on Amboina
Island killing hundreds. Some
of the houses were swallowed
up with all .their occupants.
Millionaire Assassinated.
Johannesburg March 14.

was shot and killed in his office

Woman Admitted by Supreme Court
Mrs. Victoria Conkling Whit-
uey of the Missouri bar has
been admitted to practice be-
fore the supreme court of the
District of Columbia and the
several departments of the gov-

Kentucky Youth's Crime.
Manchester O. March 14.
At Robbtown Ky. a name
given to a small group of build-
ings at the railway station just
across the river opposite this
place. Thoma3 Robb 19 years
old went to the house of Mrs.
Rose Read today and called her
to the door on the pretext that
he had a letter for her. She
came with her babe in her
arms. Robb fired three shots
in rapid succession into her
body then shot and killed him-
self. Mrs. Read fell forward
dead upon her babe. The case
is unexplainable.
J. H. Newborn M. D. of White-
field one of the foremost doctors In
the Indian Territory writes: "I have

Driven From His Find.
Phoenix A. T. March 14.
Michael Fitzpatrick from the
Harquahale mountains brings
news of the discovery by him
of one of the most wonderful
gold ledges of Arizona a state-
ment that is apparently borne
out by the specimens at hand.
Fitzpatrick says that shortly
after he made the discovery
three men who had been work-
ing a copper claim nearby raid-
ed his claim with shotguns and
drove him from the place.
Fitzpatrick and an officer will
leave in the morning for the
mine.

and stations east. Including Alexan-
