A Mangled Hand.
Clarence Humphrey ayouth living
with his widowed mother a few miles
northeast of the city met with a se-
rious accident the other day. From
; what could be gathered by a Register
j reporter today the young man took
a target gun from the house to shoot
! a bird that had alighted on a tree in
the yard and when he pulled the
trigger the weapon bursted tearing
his left thumb from the hand. The
; balance of the hand was also badly
j mangled. Dr. Bell of the city was
called in and amputated the thumb
j and last accouts the young man was
! getting along very well. The wound
j is a very painful one and it will per-
' haps be some months before the suf-
i ferer will regain the use of his hand.
