ECONOMY
ANOTHER REASON FOB
HIGH COST Of LIVING
One of the reasons advanced for
the high cost of living b a local
dealer in school books is that pupils
have to buy so much paper and so
many pencils because of the passing
of the steles so familiar to the child-
hood of another generation. He says
the problem of securing paper at
cheaper prices is as much the prob-
lem of every parent according to his
experience as of the publishers of
metropolitan newspapers.
Every day immense quantities are
sold and while the price Is appro xJ-
TOaieiy no Higher than formerly the
Duality used is better and conse-
quently the most Is increasing. As
everybody grown knows much of the
writing and figuring of former school
days was done on slates and black-
boards. Xow iittle is done that way
in Guthrie or anywhere.
The slate has gone to join the com-
munity drinking cup and other ene-
mies of society from a sanitary view-
point. The book dealer sees in this
not only a move for health but he
says it improves the hand writing
though he admits It is one of the vari-
ous things that is running up the
higji cost of living.

Q. Genesis iv 16 17 "And Coin
went out from the presence of the
Lord dwelt in the land of Nod on the
east of Eden And Cain knew hie
wife." Who was Cain's wife? (A. C)
Answer. One of the peculiarities of
the early writings of the Scriptures is
that in giving the genealogies of those
who existed in former tunes only the
names of tho males are mentioned
while their wives are left In obscurity.
In our times this custom Is just re-
versed and In the public accounts of
marriages more attention Is paid to
the bride than to the bridegroom.
How minutely the bride's dress is tie
scribed find all about her family con-
nections where she conies from and
who her ancestors were etc etc.! in
the net chapter where the genealogy
of the race from Adam to Xonh is set
forth not a word of their wives Is to
1m; follitd although a period of OVftt
sixteen centuries Is covered. In view
of this characteristic of the early
chroniclers we are forced to omit from
our list the name of the young lady
who becanjo Mrs. Cain! However. It
would be reasonable to think that
Fain married his own sister for we
read that Adam had sons and daugh-
ters. KJen. v 4.) When the race was
nearly perfeet intermarriage would not
j hare the disastrous effects as would be
the case now after six thousand years
of degeneration This is the only real

Q. In a recent issue of the Questior
Box it w.is pointed out from the Scrip-
tures that the six days of creation were
in reality six epochs of 7.000 years
each and therefore according to this
scale the Seventh Day would likewise
be a peiiod of time 7.000 years in
length. The Bible says that "God rest-
ed on the Seventh Day." Does this
rrean that He will rest for the period
of 7000 years or would this Scripture
have reference to a 24 hour day?
Answer. Yes: the Scriptures present
satisfactory evidence that the Lord ar
ranged in His Divine purposes that
there should be a great creative week

Will Y ou Spend ONE DOLLAR
to Elect Wilson President?
How deep is your conviction that this government ought to be in new hands in
clean hands ?
How much are you in favor of a clean slate from Wilson and Marshall clear down
the line to tho very smallest offices in your locality?
The Democratic National Committee has every reason to believe that every pro-
gressive voter is willing to spend a dollar to elect Wilson and Marshall and their ticket.
And that thousands are anxious to contribute to the Wilson Campaign Fund in
amount s of $ $5 $10 and $20.
To such we make our appeal. To such we must look for victory.

Q. Were there any Catholics and
are there any Catholics who are mem-
bers of the true church and if there
are can they still be Catholics?
Answer. It is more and more com-
ing to be recognized by all classes of
the people that which the Scriptures
teach namely that the true Church ol
Christ is in process of formation
throughout this Christian lira and is
being made up of saintly. Christlike
characters wherever they may be
found regardless of creed color sex
Or denomination. All fair-minded and
non-prejUdlced men and women recog-
nize that In all of the various church
denominations there are some grand
and noble characters These are the
ones the Lord Is selecting out of the
world (o be His Bride the true Church.
The various religious organizations are
all of human origin and there are no
Instructions given in the Bible to the
atfeC.t (hat one must affiliate with any
of these denominations In order to he
of the true Church. Replying directly
to the question we would say that
there are no doubt some in the Catho-
lic Church who are members of the
true Church just as in ail other de-
nominations. But as soon as these
realize their liberties ami privileges as
members of the true Church they are
no longer content to be "entangled
with a yoke of bondage."
Q. The Scriptures say that a hybrid
is an abomination unto the Lord. This
being so; what became of the offspring
of the -'Sons of God." the "angels that
kept not their first estate" and ths
"daughters of men" whom they mar-
ried? Answer. We are not to suppose that
the offspring of the union between the
'Sons of God" and the "daughters of
niea." were hybrids. On the contrary
they were perfect fleshly human be-
ings. Tho Bible distinctly declares
that "(hey became mighty mm which
were of old tacn of renown." The
angel or spirit beings have the won-
derful power of materialising as human
beings and as such may exercise nil
of the functions peculiar to the race.
While In the materialized st;ite the-
are actually human beings and (here
fore their offspring must be of the
same nature. As to the ttltltaWtC fate
of their progeny the Scriptures are si-
lent ou the subject but it may be rea-
sonably surmised that they became ex-
ttod as they were not of Adando
stock their life coming from the fally
angels and not from Adam. A resur-
