A youDff man perhaps thirty
years old made two attempts
at suicide this morning rnd
but for the watchfulness and
alacrity of Flagman Eugone
Henderson at the Broadway
street crossing would now have
been a mutilated corpse.
After the engine had passed
the flagman allowed the man to
pass on down the track and
going in front of the Santa Fe
depot he was seen to lie down
with his neck across the rail.
Some men standing near were
startled at the man's actions
and ran to his rescue pulling
him again from death that was
evidently sought in a fit of des-
peration. He was then taken
to a boarding house near by
and placed in charge of the
proprietor and will be closely
watched.
A Register reporter called on
the would-be suicide but he
persistently refused to talk. He
is a good-looking young fellow
and well dressed and the cause
of the rash act remains a mys-
tery. Gainesville Register.

now he will so he says proceed
to dispossess the occupants and

Engines Stalled In Snow.
Janesville Wis. Feb. 23.
Five Chicago and Northwestern
engines are stuck in tne snow
bur miles south of this city.
and all traffic is suspended. A
big rotary snowplow clawed its
way down from Winona to re-
ease the snowbound engines
but aside from that no tram
has arrived. Two engines went
out with the snowplow and got
stalled. The crews walked ' to
a farmhouse and hired a farmer
to bring them to town. Then
hree engines were coupled to
gether to go to the rescue and
all five have been in the drifts
ever since.
We are anxious to do a little good

pleasanter or better way to do it
than by recommending une mutate

PIANOS
TO BURN!
Such a fate would be none too
good for certain socalled pianos
that are sometimes sold when the
purchaser perhaps is too eager for
cheapness and the dealer for tem-
porary profit and descends to sell-
. ing the cheapest of the cheap.
Those worthless boxes of wire with no music in their souls. How
different when one considers those handsome new styles of Bosh
& Qerts Pmns and yet not very different in cost to the pur-
chaser. Bush & Oerts Pianos are op to date in style and hava
a sweetness and brilliancy of tone that is perfection realized.
