Bordeaux Sept. 25. It was announced officially m
Bordeaux this afternoon that the Germans last night re-
sumed bombarding the Rheims cathedral.
Berlin Sept. 25 -(By wireless to Sayville). -Tage-blatt
says in view of the enormous sacrifices thus far
made by Germany Dr. Bethmann-Hollweg the Imperial
Chancellor and General von Moltke chief of the German
general staff could agree to peace only after Germany s
future position has been made quite unassailable.
The paper says this represents public opinion in Ger-
many. Peace talk on any other basis is spurned.
Rome Sept. 25.-Giornale D Italia publishes a re-
port from Basel that Switzerland has refused the request
from the Germans for permission to send three army
corps across Swiss territory.
