Prairie Oil and Gas company. It Is

few weeks has caused considerable
activity in the Ponca City field and

The Devonian Oil Company is rig

22E and will probably begin tpud
ding (Monday. This same company is
also cleaning out several old wells
with hope of increased production.
The Carter Oil Company's well in
section 4-27-1E is drilling again after

estate and insurance agent has a
relic of the cyclone at Zyba in the
form of a tornado policy on the store
of IH. L. Hartle which was destroyed
when Jdrs. "Hartle was killed and
three members of the family were in-
jured. Mr. Israel found the policy
on a barbed wire fence nearly a mile
this side of Zyba yesterday and has
it framed as a warning to other store
owners.

telling of a conversation he had with
the tenant on this farm. The tenant

quency. He is proud of himself and

credit" said Dr. Bynum. "He said he
had got $180 from the local bapk with-

household furniture and was charging
him 60 per cent a year interest When
I asked him why the bank did not take
a mortgage also on his wife and chil
dren he could not see the point
"That man thinks he is a big man in
he community because he can get
money from a shylock whom he has no
earthly chance to pay just because the
place of business of the usurer is a
bank. That sort pf loans makes for in-
efficiencjrnnd lcails the tenant bor
rower to rob the land owner to pay
the uscrer."
Governor Williams has been holding
sessions with members of the legisla-
ture and attempting to bring about a
condition that will result in passage of
the usury law that he wants by the
special session of the legislature that
ae is contemplating calling. He is
confident that will be able to ac
:omplish this but says that if he can
lot see his way clear to it there will
b no special session.
