Further Details of the FIM between Of.
fleers and the Outlaws-Officer Still
la Pursuit With Hopes Capture.
Mamhal Stowe came down on the
5:25 train yesterday afternoon from
Purcell where he in conjunction
with Sheriff DeFord of Oklahoma
had been directing the pursuit after
the Christians. He had no new de-
velopments to report further than
that hii men with the exception of
Deputy Booker were still In pursuit
with what he and they considered
favorable prospects of an early cap-
ture. Ilocker the wounded officer was
doing nicely yesterday and strong
hopes for bis recovery are enter-
tained. The belief that Bob Chris-
tian was wounded in Friday' battle
has grown to be a certainty.
The two outlaws were trailed back
to withi i two miles of the sjk1 where
Mocker was wounded at which time
and place they were still riding
double on Mr. Hocker's pony.
It is thought by sonic that they on
Friday night made their way into
the Paoli country and acting on this
belief Marshal Stowe put his men in
that section yesterday with instruc-
tions to remain until ordered in.
! Deputy Booker came in with the
marshal he being too sick to remain
with his brother officer.
It is said that Mr. ilocker a few
days ago received a letter from Bill
Christian in which he boasted that
before a limited number of days he
would bo wearing bis illoeker'si
gun. In Ibis much it seems he was
correct.
The strange feature of Friday's
battle nrd that which excites the
inot C"ii.inent is the fact that fifteen

men with the two outlaws lone ol

The Last Week Ea4 Eacurslaa.
A tremendous crowd of excursion-
ists went to Galveston esterdav
morning. It was composed chiefly
of people from Oklahoma Purcell
and Ardmore. A gentleman from
Oklahoma City remarked to the re-
porter that most of I hone from his
territory were grass widows an.l
grass widowers who had sought the
liberal divorce demain of Oklahoma.
The gentleman giving this infor-
mation however was not himself of
that class he being a prosperous
farmer who lives near Oklahoma
City.
This was the last of the week end
excursions advertised by the Santa

Most of tbe matter for the women's

fit of the Cumberland Presbyterian
church is prepared and we ca3 un-
hesitatingly say that it will In every
respect be worthy tbe liberal patron-
age of every business firm In the
city. Ureat rare and deep study
have been exercised in the prepara-
tion of tbe subject matter and we
believe we but speak a truth when
we say it will be out of and above
tbe ordinary. There Will be at the
least calculation 1000 copies printed
and given a wide circulation. In
sire it will be eight pages and will
not be r-onflned alone to buaiursa
write-ups. Its special feature will
be the ntatus and work of the worn-
en of todav and some of the moat
intellectual women of Ardmore will
contribute articles.
We urgently request that the mer-
chants of the city give us a helping
band in our journalistic enterprise.
We can assure them tbe benefits
they derive will not be transitory; it
will be casting bread upon the waters
that will return in tbe future by our
grateful remembrance to their liber-
ality. A fact the dry goods mer-
chants should especially remember
is that their success is largely at-
tributed to the patronage of the la-
dies of the city. This is the first
! time they have aked recognition in
return and In doing so it is with
firm conviction they are giving full
